A vision therapist, under the supervision of an optometrist, provides one-to-one direct therapeutic services with patients that have eye movement, focusing, eye teaming, and visual information processing deficits utilizing specialized equipment such as prisms, lenses, filters and occlusion, computerized programs and balance and movement activities. Duties/Responsibilities: Comprehensive training with lecture, study material assignments, workshops and co-treatment of patients will be provided on an on-going basis. Working one on one with patients of all abilities and all ages, having their best interest in mind. Applying vision therapy theory and techniques and adapting to increase patient success. Providing Vision Therapy assessments using standardized tests as well as objective measurements and observations. Charting weekly patient notes in a timely manner to get doctor signatures/approvals between sessions. Providing doctor support in managing electronic charts, scheduling, report writing, and record keeping. Phone and in-person conversations with patients and families to meet patient’s needs. Making phone calls with insurance companies to verify coverage for vision therapy services. Monitoring department schedule to ensure department productivity. Accurately recording patient encounters both by clinical notes and using office software for appointment transactions.
