About The Position

The Virtual Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality, standards-aligned instruction in a fully virtual environment. This role supports students in mastering English Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, or Science content while preparing them for success on the Louisiana TOPS University Pathway, including college readiness and ACT performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in English, Education, or related field (required)
  • Valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate (or eligibility) if applicable
  • Availability during scheduled school hours for live instruction
  • Participation in professional development and staff meetings
  • Timely grading and feedback (within established timelines)
  • A reliable, high-speed internet connection and a quiet, professional, and well-lit workspace
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, manage and carry out duties efficiently and within established timeframes

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching at the high school level preferred
  • Experience with virtual or blended learning environments preferred
  • Strong instructional planning and delivery skills

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, rigorous live (synchronous) instruction aligned to Louisiana Student Standards
  • Design and assign meaningful asynchronous learning tasks
  • Develop lesson plans that incorporate reading, writing, speaking, and critical thinking skills
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs
  • Monitor and track student attendance and engagement daily
  • Provide timely, actionable feedback on assignments
  • Conduct small group instruction, tutoring, and intervention sessions
  • Build strong relationships with students in a virtual environment
  • Administer formative and summative assessments
  • Analyze student data to adjust instruction and improve outcomes
  • Prepare students for LEAP assessments and ACT benchmarks
  • Maintain consistent communication with students and families
  • Maintain frequent and weekly communication with Student Success Coaches
  • Collaborate with administrators, counselors, and support staff
  • Participate in parent conferences and school meetings
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Utilize LMS platforms (Google Classroom, Canvas, etc.) effectively
  • Facilitate virtual instruction using Zoom/Google Meet
  • Maintain accurate records in PowerSchool (attendance, grades)
  • Demonstrate student academic growth and mastery of standards
  • Maintain high levels of student engagement and attendance
  • Meet school-wide goals for LEAP 2025 and ACT performance
  • Ensure students stay on track for TOPS University Pathway eligibility
