About The Position

WVLT-TV is seeking someone who is a driven storyteller and knows that photography is more than wide, medium, and tight shots. When it comes to a microphone, you use it as a tool for gathering sound and taking people to a place in time, rather than just an object for sound bites. As an editor, you'll be able to take a script and make it sing with natural sound and tremendous visuals that you've gathered in the field or pulled from our visual journalists.

Requirements

• Strong shooting and editing skills
• Teamwork skills and the willingness to work hard
• Good communication skills and able to multitask efficiently
• Capable of working under pressure and meeting daily deadlines in a high-energy work environment
• Experience in video photography and non-linear editing preferred but not required.
• Must be able to work all shifts and have a clean driving record

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of Sony PXW200/300 and Edius 9 is a plus
• Spanish speaking a plus

Responsibilities

• Shooting videos and stills for our digital platforms and gathering information in the field
• Operating laptop editors as well as live portable technology in the field
• Collaborating with reporters and producers on stories
• Maintaining equipment and vehicles as assigned by newsroom managers
• Editing rundowns to provide quality and dynamic newscasts for our audience
