About The Position

The Video Production Specialist will work with the Audio Visual & Production (AVP) team to plan, film, and edit engaging video content that meets the needs of a wide range of clients and audiences. This position participates in all stages of the video production process, including concept development, storyboarding, scripting, directing, filming, and editing, to produce consistent, high-quality content that reflects institutional branding and messaging. In addition to video production responsibilities, the Video Production Specialist may assist with audio-visual support for classes, labs, and campus events, including setup and operation of WVSOM's AV systems. This position reports to the Creative Manager of AVP. This is a full-time, non-classified position and is exempt from FLSA regulations concerning overtime. Not all activities of this position occur within the confines of a normal schedule and shall require evening and weekend scheduling as needed. The weekly schedule for this position will be established between the supervisor and the employee and approved given the needs of the department and WVSOM. This position has been designated as essential. This means that when WVSOM is faced with an institutional emergency, employees in such positions may be required to remain at their work location or to report to work to protect, recover and continue operations at WVSOM. Requirements

  • Requires an Associate's degree, or equivalent experience, in a related field plus three years of related experience though an equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may also be considered.
  • Strong technical acumen with the ability to operate, configure, and troubleshoot video, audio, and lighting equipment.
  • Proficiency in video editing and post-production workflows; experience with DaVinci Resolve is preferred.
  • Knowledge of video codecs, file formats, and exporting standards for delivery.
  • Understanding of audio recording techniques, sound design, and basic mixing and mastering for video.
  • Experience with post-production tools, visual effects, and finishing techniques.
  • Ability to work in a variety of digital environments and production software to edit and finalize projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to maintain a professional and positive demeanor in all interactions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail and clarity.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, reason logically, and resolve complex or non-routine challenges.
  • Highly organized with strong file management and project-tracking skills.
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and adapt quickly to changing technologies and production processes.
  • Proficiency with general computer and office software applications.

Responsibilities

  • Capture and edit video to tell cohesive, compelling stories that promote the mission and vision of WVSOM.
  • Record video using professional cameras, lighting, and audio equipment in-studio, at events, and field environments.
  • Participate in all stages of video production, including storyboarding, directing, filming, and editing.
  • Edit and color-grade footage using professional editing software (DaVinci Resolve preferred).
  • Add graphics, titles, animations, and other visual effects to enhance storytelling.
  • Conduct on-camera interviews and create concise video segments from raw footage.
  • Collaborate with campus departments and clients to ensure content aligns with project goals and branding standards.
  • Perform routine service checks on video equipment and maintain organized media archives.
  • Assist with audiovisual setup, operation, and support for campus events, including labs, classes, graduations, convocations, and continuing medical education programs.
  • Support the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and upgrade of campus AV systems.
  • Serve as cross-trained backup support for other Audio Visual & Production operations as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
