About The Position

We’re hiring a hands‑on Video Editor / Field Producer who can hit the ground running to produce high‑quality video content and clear written assets that grow our brand presence—especially on YouTube. The ideal contractor is a full‑stack video creator: skilled in shooting, lighting, and audio capture in the field, and expert in editing long‑ and short‑form video to broadcast‑quality standards. Strong writing and storytelling skills are required, but this role prioritizes video production and postproduction over graphic design.

Requirements

  • Proven field production experience: on‑location shooting, lighting, and audio capture for interviews and events.
  • Editing proficiency: Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or equivalent; experience with color grading and audio mixing.
  • Photography skills: environmental portraits and event stills for thumbnails and marketing use.
  • Strong storytelling and writing: scripts, case studies, and marketing copy.
  • Comfortable working in diverse community environments and engaging respectfully with residents and stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Film/Media Production, Journalism, Urban Studies, or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of marketing experience with demonstrable field production and editing work.
  • Candidates must be based in Houston and authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, shoot, and edit video content including affordable housing project spotlights, resident and client testimonials, community event recap reels, program overviews, and impact stories.
  • Operate camera, lighting, and audio gear in single‑operator and small‑crew settings; capture clean interview audio in uncontrolled environments.
  • Work on‑site in community settings to capture authentic, story‑driven footage while maintaining sensitivity and consent practices.
  • Manage video projects from concept to final delivery with minimal oversight; handle on‑site file management, backups, and media organization.
  • Edit long‑form and short‑form videos to platform standards using Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar.
  • Perform color correction, audio mixing, motion graphics, and captioning; deliver platform‑ready exports for YouTube, LinkedIn, Instagram, and TikTok.
  • Create thumbnails, optimize metadata, and apply retention‑focused editing techniques to support YouTube growth.
  • Write video scripts, interview questions, and short‑ and long‑form narratives that clearly communicate mission and impact.
  • Draft case studies, website and marketing copy, grant‑support narratives, program summaries, blog posts, and newsletters as needed.
  • Translate complex housing and development topics into clear, accessible language that reflects the organization’s voice and values.
