About The Position

This position is a liaison between the attorney and the victims/witnesses involved in criminal cases prosecuted by the State Attorney's Office and is responsible for a wide variety of office duties including but not limited to: communicating case related information with victims and witnesses, coordinating trials, maintaining accurate data entry and addressing any attorney requests. Applicants should possess knowledge of legal terminology and be able to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing. An applicant must be detail oriented and able to prioritize tasks, work under pressure and adapt to changing situations as well as exhibit a willingness to perform other tasks as assigned.  The successful candidate will be ready to work as part of a team and also be capable of independent judgment.

Requirements

  • Dependable and routine in-office attendance especially on-time arrival to help ASA prepare victims for court.
  • Ability to work weekends on a rotating schedule and occasional approved overtime.
  • Efficient typing skills and ability to operate a computer and other office machinery.
  • Effective and efficient communication skills and ability to interact professionally with other employees, members of the public and stakeholders.
  • Perform quality work within deadlines.
  • Ability to read and follow rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Work effectively as a team contributor as well as independently.
  • Ability to run the telephone system and respond to calls professionally.
  • A high school diploma or equivalency and experience in the area of criminal justice, social science, counseling, public contact or customer service; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Bachelor’s degree may be substituted for required experience.
  • Applicants must possess a valid Florida driver’s license and demonstrate the ability to type and enter data accurately.
  • Any offer of employment would be contingent upon a negative drug screen and must pass background records check and fingerprinting.
  • The successful candidate will be required to complete the Form I-9 and that information will be verified using the E-Verify system.
