About The Position

Assist victims of crime by providing a full range of services including assistance with compensation claims, court support, case status updates. Perform interactive and assistance tasks directly working with victims of crime. You will report to the Tribal Prosecutor. Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm $23.35/ hour Primary Tasks: 1. Provide notice of criminal proceedings and restitution claims form to all victims. 2. Coordinate meetings with attorneys and witnesses, issue subpoenas, and calendar court dates. 3. Coordinate with witnesses for preliminary hearing and trials and ensure mileage and witness fees are paid. 4. Periodically check on victims and provide information and provide preparation for court environment. 5. Identify victims for referral to Victim Service Coordinate for service needs. 6. Offer assistance to victims in looking for victim protective orders against their perpetrator. 7. Answer and manage incoming telephone calls; assist office visitors; make appointments; schedules meetings and conferences with victims. 8. Maintain calendar for all victim related cases and coordinate court appearances, jury term, and meetings with attorneys. 9. Update Odyssey and other case management systems with current victim and case information 10. Issue subpoenas in all criminal and juvenile cases in which victims are listed. 11. Provide monthly expenditure reports and maintain reports of restitution figures and payments made. Perform other tasks as may be assigned

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to speak in public.
  • Basic knowledge of the dynamics of intimate partner violence
  • Basic understanding of tribal cultures, customs, beliefs, values, social systems, and structure of native families
  • Experience with legal filing systems and calendaring court dates
  • Working knowledge of the criminal and juvenile court systems
  • Experience working with the public, victims, and attorneys.
  • Two years’ experience working in the field of counseling, victim advocacy, or social services.
