The VP Accounts, Overlay at Select Events Group is the senior leader responsible for overseeing the account and project delivery teams that execute large-scale sporting and hospitality overlay projects. This role does not physically deliver projects but instead manages the people, processes, and performance standards that ensure successful execution. This position drives accountability, financial discipline, and operational consistency across teams while aligning delivery with SEG’s strategic objectives and client expectations.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of senior leadership in event production, overlay, or large-scale account/project management.
  • Proven experience leading account/project teams and driving accountability in complex environments.
  • Strong financial acumen with direct P&L oversight.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build high-performing, multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Proficiency with project/account management and reporting tools (Smartsheet, Power BI, Microsoft PWA).
  • Willingness to travel to support leadership oversight, client meetings, and strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership & Oversight
  • Set direction, expectations, and priorities for overlay account and project teams.
  • Ensure all projects align with SEG’s standards of quality, safety, and financial performance.
  • Provide governance across multiple accounts to balance client needs with company objectives.
  • Team & Talent Management
  • Lead, mentor, and develop Overlay Project Directors, Account Managers, and supporting staff.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement.
  • Implement training and development programs to build future leadership within the division.
  • Accountability & Performance Management
  • Hold teams accountable for timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Track and report on KPIs, ensuring operational discipline and proactive problem-solving.
  • Ensure cross-functional collaboration between design, drafting, logistics, and site operations teams.
  • Financial Oversight & Governance
  • Oversee P&L performance across overlay accounts.
  • Monitor project budgets and forecasts to ensure financial discipline.
  • Identify margin improvement opportunities and enforce cost-control measures.
  • Process & Operational Excellence
  • Standardize best practices and delivery models across accounts.
  • Introduce tools and reporting structures to increase efficiency and transparency.
  • Drive innovation in how overlay projects are planned, tracked, and managed.
  • Stakeholder & Organizational Alignment
  • Represent overlay needs within SEG’s leadership team, ensuring alignment with broader company strategy.
  • Partner with executive leadership to define resource allocation and long-term account growth.
  • Serve as an escalation point for major account challenges and strategic decision-making.
