About The Position

We are seeking a transformational leader to serve as Vice President of Variable Operations, with enterprise-wide accountability for sales performance, gross profit, and operational excellence across our 24-store automotive group. This is a senior executive role for a proven platform leader who can architect strategy at the group level while driving disciplined execution through a team of General Managers. The VP will serve as a key member of the senior leadership team, partnering directly with the COO, CFO, and ownership to shape the future of our variable business.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive automotive leadership, including a minimum of 7 years as a franchised General Manager across domestic and import brands
  • Demonstrated success as a Market Area President, Regional Vice President, or multi-rooftop platform leader
  • Proven ability to drive variable operations performance at scale, with measurable results in sales, gross profit, and market share
  • Deep expertise in F&I operations, automotive financial statements, and DMS systems
  • Executive-level communication and relationship management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of an organization
  • Strategic mindset balanced with a bias for hands-on execution and accountability
  • High travel flexibility; regular overnight travel required

Responsibilities

  • Define and drive group-wide variable sales, gross profit, and market share objectives in partnership with the COO, CFO, and ownership
  • Establish a high-performance operating cadence across all rooftops, holding GMs accountable to clearly defined KPIs and financial targets
  • Identify systemic performance gaps and lead cross-store initiatives to capture revenue opportunities and improve throughput
  • Champion operational efficiency and cost discipline across all variable departments
  • Serve as the executive escalation point for complex customer, employee, and regulatory matters
  • Build and lead a culture of continuous improvement, coaching GMs on sales management, process execution, and financial acumen
  • Design and implement structured development programs for GM and emerging management talent across the group
  • Establish standards of excellence in consumer protection, safety, and HR compliance, ensuring consistent adherence across all locations
  • Partner with technology and vendor teams to drive optimal DMS utilization and digital retail adoption
  • Proactively develop and maintain a bench of high-potential GM candidates to support growth and succession planning
  • Lead variable operations directly during acquisitions and store transitions, ensuring business continuity and culture alignment from day one
  • Act as a trusted advisor to ownership on dealership performance, market dynamics, and strategic growth opportunities
