About The Position

The Social Impact team drives BlackRock’s corporate philanthropic strategy, including managing The BlackRock Foundation, corporate grantmaking, employee giving, and global volunteering. As part of the Global Corporate Affairs function, Social Impact coordinates with Marketing, Communications, and Global Affairs & Public Policy to amplify the firm’s impact in regional and local communities. The team also coordinates governance of the BlackRock Foundation Board, comprised of senior leaders from across the firm and reports annually to the Nominating and Governance Committee of the BlackRock, Inc. Board of Directors. Based in New York and reporting to the Head of Grantmaking & Strategy for The BlackRock Foundation, this Vice President will lead on strategy and day-to-day operations and execution of our US grant portfolio. The role includes partnering closely with internal and external stakeholders to source and diligence grants focused on social and economic mobility for Americans. This dynamic leader will stay closely connected to the firm’s U.S. Public Affairs efforts and Global Affairs & Public Policy priorities and will ensure alignment between the Foundation’s impact objectives and the firm’s brand and reputation goals. In this capacity, this individual will interface regularly with firm leaders across multiple functions, as well as manage ongoing relationships with nonprofit partners and other community leaders and decision makers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 8-10 years of industry work experience, preferably in a financial services organization, consulting firm or a corporate foundation leading strategic analysis or development
  • Strong analytical and research skills, with aptitude for conveying complex concepts simply and translating into clear action frameworks
  • Ability to manage workload, multi-task, balance multiple and conflicting priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and changing environment
  • Ambitious approach to large, complex projects, with a flair for problem solving
  • A team player mentality, with the desire to roll up your sleeves and the ability to partner at all levels
  • Self-starter who is results driven and possesses a high degree of self-motivation
  • Must have superb writing skills, with proven experience

Responsibilities

  • Partner with team leadership to oversee all grantee relationships in the US, including managing staffing, reporting, impact and measurement
  • Coordinate workstreams for the Foundation’s most strategic initiatives and programs, starting in the US, facilitating cross-team collaboration and knowledge sharing across the firm
  • Communicate program priorities and execution plans across the firm via strategic presentations, meetings, and via written communications
  • Oversee diligence of funding opportunities, applying rigorous analysis, and spearhead presenting the funding case to team leadership and Foundation Board
  • Act as key partner, champion and thought partner for grantees, ensuring optimal connectivity and alignment with the firm
  • Create process for sourcing stories from grantees on an ongoing basis that showcase the Foundation’s impact on local communities
  • Liaise with BlackRock’s Communications and Marketing teams to provide content for the firm’s storytelling efforts
  • Define and manage goals for stakeholder engagement in a given community in close coordination across Global Corporate Affairs, including with Government Affairs and Public Policy team
  • Serve as an ambassador for the work to both internal and external stakeholders
