The Accounting Policy team is responsible for evaluating and implementing accounting standards across Lazard’s global operations, including Financial Advisory and Asset Management businesses. The role provides a leadership opportunity to provide technical accounting guidance, support SEC reporting, and partner with senior finance personnel to ensure consistent application of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting regulations.

Requirements

  • CPA strongly preferred.
  • 8–12+ years of relevant experience.
  • Strong background in technical accounting, accounting policy, or SEC reporting.
  • Experience at a Big Four accounting firm or major financial institution strongly preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.
  • Strong analytical, research, and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate complex accounting issues to senior finance leadership.

Nice To Haves

  • Some IFRS and UK GAAP knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate the impact of new and emerging accounting standards (FASB / SEC regulations) on Lazard’s financial statements and operations.
  • Draft and maintain the firm’s global accounting policy documentation and technical accounting memoranda.
  • Provide technical accounting guidance to business units, including Financial Advisory, Asset Management, and Corporate.
  • Support the preparation and review of SEC filings, including Form 10‑K, 10‑Q, and other public disclosures.
  • Analyze complex transactions (e.g., acquisitions, compensation arrangements, revenue recognition, consolidations, and investments).
  • Work closely with Financial Reporting, Controllership, Tax, Legal, and Treasury teams on accounting matters.
  • Interface with external auditors and regulators regarding accounting policies and technical issues.
  • Assist in implementation of new accounting standards and internal control considerations.
  • Research accounting guidance and prepare position papers and presentations for senior management and audit committees.
