About The Position

The Vice President, Product Analytics is the enterprise leader accountable for building and scaling Walmart’s product analytics function—defining how data informs product decisions across the full digital portfolio (eCommerce, App, Walmart+, Financial Services, Health & Wellness, Marketplace, and Walmart Connect). Reporting to the EVP, Product, Design & AI Acceleration, this VP leads a ~60-80 person organization across five pillars: Product Measurement & KPIs, Experimentation & Causal Inference, Growth & Monetization Analytics, Data Science & Advanced Modeling, and Instrumentation & Data Quality. The role owns a $15-25M analytics platform budget and directly influences $500M+ in annual product investment decisions through measurement frameworks, experimentation governance, and analytics-driven insights. The VP serves as the single point of accountability for product measurement standards, experimentation rigor, and KPI governance across 200+ product teams—connecting product health metrics to enterprise financial performance at Fortune 1 scale.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, Data Science, or related)
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in analytics, data science, or quantitative strategy roles
  • 5+ years leading analytics or data science teams within a product-led or digital-first organization at scale
  • 3+ years managing senior leaders (Director+ level) with organizations of 30+ analytics professionals
  • Demonstrated experience building experimentation and measurement capabilities at enterprise scale
  • Deep expertise in product metrics (activation, engagement, retention, conversion, NPS, LTV) and statistical methodology

Responsibilities

  • Analytics Vision & Strategy Define and execute the multi-year product analytics strategy and roadmap aligned with enterprise product and company objectives
  • Translate enterprise strategy into measurable product KPIs that connect product health to financial outcomes
  • Present analytics strategy and portfolio impact to EVP, C-suite, and board stakeholders quarterly Measurement & KPI Governance
  • Establish enterprise product measurement frameworks aligning product performance with business value and customer outcomes
  • Own the metric governance process—ensuring KPIs are consistently defined, instrumented, and reported across all digital products
  • Define the product health scorecard used by all product GMs to track activation, engagement, retention, conversion, and NPS
  • Experimentation & Causal Inference Scale experimentation frameworks (A/B, multivariate, quasi-experimental) supporting thousands of concurrent tests across web, app, and omnichannel
  • Establish experimentation governance: statistical rigor standards, guardrail metrics, and launch/no-launch criteria
  • Elevate causal inference and econometric modeling to de-risk major product investment decisions
  • Data Science & Advanced Modeling Lead predictive and prescriptive modeling for segmentation, recommendation, churn prediction, and lifetime value estimation
  • Build ML pipelines that operationalize models at Walmart scale, serving real-time predictions to product surfaces
  • Evaluate and adopt emerging techniques (LLM-powered analytics, automated insight generation) to accelerate capability maturity
  • Instrumentation & Data Quality Define standards for event taxonomy, instrumentation, tracking, and data quality across all digital products
  • Partner with engineering on data architecture, pipeline reliability, and latency requirements for real-time analytics
  • Ensure compliance with privacy and regulatory requirements (CCPA, GDPR, internal data governance)
  • Talent & Organization Build and scale a high-performing team of analysts, data scientists, and experimentation engineers across 5 Senior Director-led pillars
  • Establish clear operating models between Product Analytics, Data Engineering, Business Reporting, and UX Research
