The Vice President of Procurement will lead the strategic planning and execution of Montera’s hyperscale data center equipment procurement program, supporting a national portfolio of Tier 1 market developments across the United States and select markets in Canada. Reporting directly to the Chief Delivery Officer (CDO), this role will design, implement, and manage a scalable, standardized, and high-performance procurement model that ensures timely, cost-effective, and high-quality delivery of Major Capital Equipment (MCE) and related systems across a planned 1.5–2.5 GW IT capacity program. This executive will serve as the primary interface between leadership, design, construction, commissioning, program controls, operations, and external equipment vendors. The role requires deep expertise in mission-critical equipment procurement, strong vendor relationship management, and the ability to build and lead a high-performing procurement organization. The Vice President will ensure that Montera’s procurement strategy drives speed-to-market, cost predictability, quality manufacturing, and operational reliability across all hyperscale campuses.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Construction Management, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 10–15 years of progressive experience in major capital equipment procurement management, equipment manufacturing, or mission-critical infrastructure delivery.
  • Proven success developing and overseeing an equipment procurement program for hyperscale or multi-building data center campuses (50–100 MW+ IT capacity).
  • Experience developing scalable, programmatic procurement models across multiple markets.
  • Strong understanding of MEP design and construction, modular construction, MCE procurement, QA/QC programs, and commissioning methodologies.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6, MS Project, Procore, and cost management systems.
  • Demonstrate commitment to safety, sustainability, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the CDO (Chief Delivery Officer) to develop and scale a repeatable, programmatic procurement framework optimized for hyperscale single-tenant customers focused on AI, cloud, and enterprise workloads.
  • Translate corporate growth objectives into executable procurement strategies balancing cost, schedule, quality, and risk.
  • Establish long-term procurement roadmaps aligned with portfolio development timelines and standardized reference designs.
  • Identify, evaluate, qualify, and recommend strategic equipment vendors and associated equipment packages to the leadership team.
  • Maintain strong executive-to-executive and operational-level relationships with key vendors to ensure alignment, transparency, and performance across all organizational layers.
  • Lead negotiation of commercial terms, manufacturing schedules, service-level expectations, and long-term supply agreements.
  • Hire, lead, and manage a procurement organization initially composed of third-party procurement partners.
  • Build out a hybrid team of full-time employees and consultants, including sourcing managers, technical category managers, and contract managers.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, performance, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Define and oversee a monthly procurement monitoring and reporting program with KPIs and OKRs focused on:
  • Proposal responsiveness and accuracy
  • Manufacturing quality, factory performance, and on-time delivery
  • Market cost, lead-time, and availability tracking per equipment category
  • Equipment cost management and change control
  • Issue resolution during manufacturing, construction and operational phases
  • Vendor technical service availability, responsiveness, and performance
  • Ensure procurement reporting integrates seamlessly with Program Controls, Delivery, and Finance teams.
  • Oversee project equipment CAPEX budgets, cost forecasting, and financial reporting in collaboration with Program Controls and Delivery teams.
  • Ensure procurement decisions support cost predictability, risk mitigation, and long-term operational reliability.
  • Partner with Design to validate equipment specifications, technical requirements, and alignment with standardized reference designs.
  • Collaborate with Construction, Commissioning, and Operations teams to ensure equipment readiness, delivery sequencing, and issue resolution.
  • Support continuous improvement through lessons learned, vendor performance reviews, and program refinements.
