The Vice President, PDS Procurement is a senior enterprise leader responsible for defining and executing procurement strategy for BMS’s Product Development & Supply (PDS) organization. This role provides end-to-end leadership in category strategy, supplier relationship management, OneProc (site procurement), Agile Sourcing integration, and digital enablement to ensure speed, resilience, compliance, and value delivery throughout the development and manufacturing lifecycle. As a member of the Global Procurement Leadership Team and a strategic partner to the PDS Leadership Team, this VP drives operating-model transformation, supplier ecosystem strategy, and capability uplift to support an increasingly complex portfolio and modality mix.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S./B.A.)
  • 15+ years of progressive business experience, including 12+ years in senior procurement or supply chain leadership roles
  • Proven experience leading global, cross‑functional organizations in highly regulated environments
  • Deep expertise in category management, supplier management, contracting, risk management, and financial analysis
  • Experience supporting Product Development, External Manufacturing, and/or complex capital programs
  • Enterprise-level thinking across portfolio, modality, and network trade-offs
  • Executive presence with ability to influence PDS LT, Quality, MS&T, Supply Chain, and Finance
  • Board- and ELT-ready communication and decision framing
  • Experience managing complex, regulated categories (e.g., CDMOs, biologics, cell therapy, sterile DP, capital programs)
  • Advanced supplier risk, resilience, and continuity planning capabilities
  • Ability to shift from asset-specific sourcing to category- and network-level strategies
  • Expertise in operating-model design, role clarity, and decision rights
  • Experience scaling Agile / CoE-based delivery models
  • Strong change management and stakeholder alignment skills
  • Demonstrated leadership in digital transformation, AI enablement, and automation
  • Ability to translate complex or fragmented data into actionable insights

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute a 3–5 year PDS Procurement strategy aligned to portfolio priorities, modality complexity, and end‑to‑end product lifecycle needs.
  • Serve as a senior advisor to PDS LT, Global Procurement SLT, and enterprise leaders, providing market, supplier, and risk insights.
  • Lead global category strategy across Product Development, External Manufacturing, Direct Materials, Capital & Engineering, Packaging, and Logistics.
  • Establish and govern clear global, above‑site, and site‑level accountabilities, ensuring a consistent “one BMS voice” to suppliers.
  • Own and evolve Supplier Relationship Management (SRM), including segmentation, executive governance, performance management, and value realization.
  • Drive proactive supplier risk and resilience strategies, including dual sourcing, contingency planning, and data‑based supplier assessments.
  • Set direction for OneProc (Site Procurement) and Agile Sourcing operating models, ensuring clarity of roles, handoffs, and governance.
  • Champion digital, data, and AI enablement (e.g., Project Nexus, analytics, automation) to improve visibility, decision quality, and cycle times.
  • Establish enterprise‑level performance metrics and dashboards covering value delivery, risk, compliance, service quality, and speed.
  • Own PDS Procurement budget, investment prioritization, and workforce strategy, including global delivery mix decisions.
  • Build and lead a high‑performing global organization, with strong succession planning, leadership development, and capability uplift.
