About The Position

The Vice President of Technology is responsible for defining and executing SmartLight’s technology vision, ensuring the scalability, security, and reliability of our platforms, and aligning technology strategy with business goals. This role provides executive leadership across engineering, data, infrastructure, and security, while partnering closely with product, operations, and commercial teams to support sustained growth in healthcare analytics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in technology, engineering, data, or related technical disciplines
  • 5+ years of experience in senior technical leadership roles (Director level or above)
  • Demonstrated success scaling technology platforms and teams in a growth‑oriented environment
  • Strong background in modern, cloud‑based architectures and data platforms
  • Deep understanding of security, reliability, and operational excellence
  • Proven ability to lead cross‑functional teams and communicate effectively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in healthcare domain including an understanding of claims data, compliant application development, and/or working with carriers
  • Familiarity with large‑scale data processing, machine learning, or analytics platforms
  • Prior experience operating at the executive level, including reporting to a CEO or board

Responsibilities

  • Define and lead SmartLight’s technology strategy, architecture, and roadmap, including build vs. buy decisions, vendor selection, and platform modernization, aligned to company objectives
  • Own end‑to-end technology execution across engineering, data, infrastructure, and IT services, ensuring scalable, reliable, secure, and cost‑effective delivery
  • Establish and enforce best practices for software development, data engineering, cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and quality assurance
  • Oversee data governance, security, privacy, and compliance programs appropriate for healthcare and regulated data
  • Lead, develop, and retain high‑performing technical teams, including hiring, performance management, and leadership development
  • Manage the technology budget, resource planning, and risk management to support business priorities
  • Partner closely with Product, Operations, and Commercial leaders to translate business priorities into technical outcomes
  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor to the executive team, providing clear communication, transparency, and decision support
