About The Position

The VP of Special Projects is a strategic leadership role responsible for strengthening company-wide sales performance across all channels, including regional distribution, retail partnerships, and contractor relationships. This position is a trusted advisor to leadership providing seasoned industry insight, mentorship, and guidance to support sustainable revenue growth and long-term market expansion to align strategy, elevate performance, and enhance overall sales effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Extensive leadership experience within the flooring or related industry, with a demonstrated record of driving multi-channel sales growth.
  • Exceptional communication and executive presence, with proven ability to influence stakeholders at all levels, including ownership and C-suite leadership.
  • Strong strategic sales acumen, including competitive positioning, complex opportunity development, and key account strategy.
  • Demonstrated success meeting or exceeding revenue objectives through collaboration and market insight.
  • Proven ability to mentor, guide, and influence sales leaders and cross-functional teams without direct reporting authority.
  • Highly organized and analytical, with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment while balancing strategic focus with practical execution.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems, ERP platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Minimum of 10 years of outside sales experience, with at least 5 years in a senior or strategic sales capacity.
  • Minimum of 5 years of flooring or related building materials industry experience required.
  • Demonstrated success driving revenue growth, managing key accounts, and leading territory development initiatives.

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, or related field preferred; equivalent industry experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.

Responsibilities

  • Provide experienced insight into territory planning, revenue growth initiatives, and market positioning across sales channels.
  • Offer strategic input on key accounts in collaboration with sales management.
  • Work closely with sales managers to strengthen relationships with sales managers.
  • Support territory development strategies across distribution and retail networks.
  • Provide guidance on complex deal strategy and customer engagement.
  • Represent the company with executive presence in meetings with key contractors, retail partners, and industry stakeholders.
  • Leverage extensive industry experience to identify growth opportunities and emerging trends.
  • Strengthen strategic partnerships and enhance the company’s position within the market.
  • Participate in leadership discussions related to hiring, succession planning, and sales team development.
  • Mentor and support sales leaders to elevate strategic thinking and overall performance.
  • Provide insight to executive leadership on organizational structure and long-term sales capability development.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
