About The Position

Lumenci is seeking a Vice President – Product (AI Platform & IP Intelligence) to lead the vision, strategy, and execution of a next-generation AI-driven patent intelligence platform. This role is ideal for a senior product leader with experience building or scaling AI/ML-powered products, semantic or knowledge systems, and complex workflow platforms, who is excited to transform high-value expert consulting services into a scalable, category-defining product. About Lumenci Founded in 2018, Lumenci is a premier intellectual property consulting firm specializing in patent litigation, expert witness testimony, and patent monetization for leading corporations and global law firms operating across the software, telecommunications, semiconductors, and emerging technology sectors. A key part of Lumenci’s model is the integration of deep technical expertise with litigation strategy. Headquartered in Austin, Texas, with offices in San Francisco, New York, and Gurugram, India, Lumenci delivers end-to-end support spanning technical analysis, expert strategy, valuation, and monetization execution. Our differentiated approach, which includes combining engineering depth, litigation experience, and operational rigor, has resulted in long-term partnerships with leading law firms and technology companies navigating complex IP disputes. Lumenci is backed by VSS Capital Partners (“VSS”) and Century Equity Partners (“CEP”). VSS is a private equity firm dedicated to investing in tech-enabled business services, healthcare , and education companies. Since 1987, VSS has managed eight private capital funds with aggregate committed capital of nearly $4 billion across 103 platform companies and over 600 add-on acquisitions. VSS’s investment in Lumenci was from VSS Structured Capital IV, L.P. (“VSS SC IV”), a $530 million fund which had its final closing in December 2022. CEP is a private equity firm headquartered in Boston, MA, that partners with companies seeking investments to support growth or fund acquisitions, partial buyouts, or recapitalization opportunities. Employment Type: Full-time, exempt Work Arrangement: Hybrid (possibility of remote with intention to relocate) Location: Austin, TX This role may require approximately domestic travel for client meetings, internal strategy sessions, and product/market events. Role Overview The VP of Product will be the product owner and builder-in-chief for Lumenci AI. You will translate our vision for AI-driven IP intelligence into a clear product strategy, prioritized roadmap, and repeatable delivery motion. You will partner closely with engineering, data science, consulting, and go-to-market teams to bring new capabilities from concept to launch, and ensure that what we build is tightly aligned with real workflows at law firms, patent investors, and corporate IP teams. This is a high-impact leadership role for a product executive who is comfortable working at the intersection of AI, B2B SaaS, and expert services, and who knows how to build 0→1 products while laying the foundations for scale.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in product management, including senior leadership roles (e.g., Director, Head of Product, VP Product).
  • Demonstrated success building 0→1 products and/or scaling B2B SaaS or platform products.
  • Hands-on experience with AI/ML products, data platforms, or intelligent workflow systems (LLMs, semantic search, recommendations, decision support, etc.).
  • Strong execution discipline: able to move from vision to shipped product with clear priorities, trade‑offs, and timelines.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams (engineering, data, design, GTM, services) in ambiguous, fast-changing environments.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to explain complex AI and IP concepts to executives, attorneys, and technical audiences.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in legal tech, IP, patent analytics, or litigation support.
  • Background in semantic search, knowledge systems, or information retrieval.
  • Experience working with or leading distributed global teams (US + India or similar).
  • Prior work in an AI-first or data-heavy B2B SaaS environment.
  • Strategic and hands-on: equally comfortable setting vision and writing detailed specs.
  • Customer-obsessed: grounded in real user problems, not just internal ideas.
  • Commercially minded: naturally ties product decisions to revenue, unit economics, and profitability.
  • Systems thinker: sees the connections between platform capabilities, service delivery, and business model.
  • Bias for action with a willingness to experiment, learn, and iterate.

Responsibilities

  • Product Strategy & Vision Own the product vision and strategy for Lumenci AI, aligned with Lumenci’s overall IP consulting and monetization strategy. Define a multi‑year roadmap across portfolio analysis, SEP mapping, claim chart generation, and IP monetization workflows. Continuously synthesize input from customers, internal stakeholders, market trends, and data to sharpen positioning and priorities.
  • Roadmap & Execution Leadership Translate strategy into clear product requirements, PRDs, and prioritized backlogs. Lead roadmap planning, sprint prioritization, and release management, ensuring predictable delivery. Work closely with engineering and data science to scope features, manage trade‑offs, and ship product increments on time and to quality. Establish product development rituals (planning, reviews, retros) that balance speed with rigor.
  • AI Workflow & Platform Design Design agentic workflows that orchestrate ingestion, parsing, search, scoring, and explanation within Lumenci AI. Define AI vs human-in-the-loop validation layers to ensure reliability, low hallucination, and legal defensibility of outputs. Partner with data and engineering to drive architecture decisions that support traceability, observability, and continuous improvement of AI models and workflows.
  • Customer & Market Insight Engage regularly with law firms, corporate IP teams, and patent investors to understand their workflows and pain points. Convert discovery insights into concrete product requirements and use cases that map to revenue opportunities. Monitor the legal tech / IP analytics landscape and adjacent AI tools to ensure Lumenci AI remains differentiated and relevant.
  • Cross-Functional & GTM Collaboration Partner with GTM leadership on positioning, pricing, packaging, and launch plans for new features and offerings. Support sales, customer success, and consulting teams with enablement materials, demos, and product narratives. Ensure closed-loop feedback from customer-facing teams flows back into the product roadmap.
  • Product Metrics & Accountability Define and own key product KPIs, including time-to-value, adoption, retention, output quality, and operational efficiency. Use data and experimentation (A/B tests, pilots, cohort analysis) to inform prioritization and product decisions. Report product performance and roadmap progress to senior leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Leadership & Culture Build and lead a high-performing product team over time (PMs, designers, product analysts), starting as an individual leader and evolving into a team builder. Model a data‑driven, customer‑centric, and collaborative product culture that aligns with Lumenci’s values. Work effectively with distributed teams across US and India, creating clarity and shared context.
