About The Position

The Vice President of Mission Advancement provides strategic and operational leadership for Goodwill’s mission programs, ensuring high-quality, scalable, and outcomes-driven service delivery. This position directly supervises program directors responsible for the Goodwill Career and Technical Academy, Career Solutions Centers, and Mission Integration programs, and ensures alignment across service delivery models to maximize impact for individuals served. The Vice President of Mission Advancement is responsible for building systems, strengthening program quality, and scaling training and workforce solutions to advance economic mobility. The Vice President of Mission Advancement will promote a positive work environment that celebrates our vision, mission and core values of Teamwork, Respect, Uprightness and Empowerment in every action and interaction with team members, donors, customers, management and persons served.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in business administration, education, human resources, related field; or extensive experience in those fields.
  • Minimum ten (10) years of progressive leadership experience in workforce development, education, human resources management, or related field is required.
  • Experience leading multi-site or multi-program operations.
  • Demonstrated success in scaling programs and driving measurable outcomes.
  • Knowledge of workforce development, training programs, and credentialing systems
  • Strong written and oral communication skills including ability to be able to communicate effectively with all levels of management and employees.
  • Ability to lead through change, manage complexity, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Must have a strategic mindset, with ability to make difficult decisions.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong financial and budget management skills.
  • Able to relate well to a wide variety of people from clients who have disabilities to agency board members and other community leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Program Leadership & Execution: Provides leadership and operational oversight for all mission programs by translating organizational strategy into actionable plans, goals, and performance expectations, ensuring effective, efficient, and high-quality service delivery.
  • Growth & Expansion: Leads the strategic expansion of the Goodwill Career and Technical Academy, including scaling training programs beyond Nashville into the broader 48-county territory, and support the development and launch of new training programs, credentials, and delivery models that increase access and impact. Leads change and scale efforts to support growth and continuous improvement.
  • Performance Management & Impact: Establishes and manages a data-driven performance culture focused on measurable outcomes across key impact domains, including employment and economic mobility, training and credential attainment, stability and support services, retention and wage progression, and participant and partner experience. Accountable for achieving program performance outcomes and impact targets.
  • Compliance & Quality Assurance: Ensures all programs operate in compliance with applicable regulatory, accreditation, and funding requirements, including CARF accreditation, Tennessee Higher Education Commission (THEC) authorization, and other relevant standards. Oversees program quality assurance processes and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Leadership & Team Development: Leads, coaches, and develops a team of directors, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement, and ensures strong alignment and coordination across Career Solutions Centers, the Goodwill Career and Technical Academy, and Mission Integration programs.
  • Engagement & Partnerships: Represents Goodwill in the community by building and maintaining relationships with employers, community organizations, public agencies, and other stakeholders. Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to align workforce solutions with employer needs and regional economic priorities. Partners across the organization with retail operations, marketing, development, and support services to ensure alignment of mission delivery with organizational priorities.
  • Operational & Financial Management: Develops and manages program budgets, ensuring fiscally sound operations and effective resource allocation.
