About The Position

The primary purpose of this role is to assist the Senior Vice President in executing the strategy of the Finance Shared Services Center (FSSC) and oversee operating departments within the FSSC to ensure accuracy of financial information; compliance with MGM policies and procedures, compliance with SOX, gaming regulations, and other internal control requirements; and to manage personnel within the FSSC. The Vice President is expected to be a progressive agent for process improvement, looking for opportunities to generate savings for the company through efficiencies and increase the effectiveness of processes – both within FSSC and in the operating areas we interact with. The Vice President should also be an advocate for FSSC within MGM and externally in dealing with other shared services, gaming regulators, and others to build a network of contacts to help advance the FSSC’s maturity as a shared services center and achieve the objectives of FSSC and the casino-related departments. In particular, the Vice President should deliver exceptional service to our clients. The Vice President should work to develop employee engagement and career paths/opportunities for existing FSSC employees (particularly leadership development in EDs and Directors for succession planning), as well as design and participate in recruitment and hiring programs for new employees who fit the culture and requirements of FSSC.

Requirements

  • The ideal candidate demonstrates strong gaming knowledge with a clear understanding of gaming operations, regulations, and the key financial drivers within the gaming industry.
  • They hold a bachelor’s degree in a related field and bring 6+ years of prior relevant experience, including previous finance experience in a senior or upper management capacity.
  • They exhibit strong leadership abilities, sound judgment, and superior decision-making skills, with a proven track record of guiding teams and influencing business outcomes.
  • This individual possesses excellent finance and accounting expertise, paired with strong problem-solving capabilities and a strategic mindset.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills enable them to communicate effectively with a wide range of internal and external business partners, supported by exceptional oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain successful day-to-day operation of functions for multiple FSSC departments, while adhering to GAAP and MGM Resorts International corporate accounting policies and gaming regulations where relevant.
  • Oversee and direct accounting and financial reporting processes.
  • Design and implement programs to meet the strategic objectives of FSSC.
  • Demonstrate and be a role model for the MGM Resorts and FSSC core values.
  • Assist the SVP in communicating the strategy, objectives, results and status of FSSC programs/initiatives to senior management, key clients, other key stakeholders, department personnel, and in presentations to outside parties.
  • For the departments supervised, ensure that policies, procedures and practices exist.
  • Accounting transactions within the departments supervised are timely and accurately recorded in the general ledger.
  • All general ledger accounts are timely, accurately and consistently reconciled for all business units.
  • Necessary reporting is provided to all property finance related departments relying on financial data.
  • Accounting records and practices adhere to MGM accounting policies and remain standard across all business units.
  • Accounting and internal control processes adhere to relevant gaming regulations.
  • Oversee, manage and participate in projects for systems implementations.
  • Consult with business and other resources to gain an understanding of industry trends and new initiatives.
  • Make recommendations to Senior Management regarding best-practices including adoption of new trends and initiatives.
  • Maintain an effective relationship between FSSC, business units, corporate departments.
  • Maintain and enhance client service through the implementation of reporting and processing improvements as well as promotion of service-oriented approach within all functional responsibilities.
  • Flexibility and ability to work within a fast growth environment with changing priorities.
  • Ability to prepare and fully analyze financial data, and make recommendations and decisions based on financial data.
  • Broad accounting and/or finance knowledge.
  • Knowledge of Excel to solve finance and business problems.
  • Ability to guide design and strategy for use of electronic system tools to improve process, mine data, extract and report data.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all business contacts.
