About The Position

FIA NOW Employment Solutions is partnering with an award-winning nonprofit public media organization located in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, in the heart of the Lehigh Valley to recruit a Vice President of Content. This executive leadership role will shape the future of journalism, storytelling, and civic engagement across digital, broadcast, and live platforms. The organization serves the region through trusted public media programming and community storytelling that informs, connects, and reflects the diverse voices of the community. Position Overview The Vice President of Content serves as the organization’s senior editorial and content executive, with enterprise-wide responsibility for journalism, production, storytelling, and education initiatives across digital, broadcast, and live platforms. This leader will architect, build, and scale a high-performing integrated content organization, defining staffing structures, workflows, editorial governance, and long-term resource strategies aligned with the organization’s transformation goals and community impact. The VP of Content ensures all content is clearly defined, responsibly managed, and strategically integrated across platforms, safeguarding public trust while expanding meaningful community participation and audience engagement.

Requirements

  • Ten (10) or more years of progressive leadership experience in journalism, media, content strategy, or public media.
  • Experience leading newsroom or journalism operations.
  • Experience managing multi-format storytelling teams across digital, broadcast, and live platforms.
  • Experience designing editorial standards, governance structures, or newsroom operations.
  • Demonstrated success leading integrated newsroom operations across digital publishing, broadcast production, and live programming.
  • Proven expertise in multi-platform storytelling including broadcast, digital, social media, and live experiences.
  • Strong leadership and team development capabilities.
  • Strong editorial judgment and understanding of audience engagement trends.
  • Familiarity with participatory media models and integrating community-generated content responsibly.
  • Ability to lead with vision, inspire teams, and cultivate collaborative partnerships.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and representing the full spectrum of community voices.
  • Strong ethical foundation and unwavering commitment to fair and unbiased content.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record for occasional business travel.
  • Successful completion of required background checks including: 7-year background check FBI fingerprint clearance Pennsylvania child abuse clearance

Responsibilities

  • Lead the organization’s unified civic storytelling strategy aligned with long-term transformation goals.
  • Align journalism, storytelling, and community participation within a cohesive content architecture.
  • Build, mentor, and lead a collaborative, high-performing content organization.
  • Establish structures for editorial planning, production workflows, and cross-platform distribution.
  • Lead strategy and growth of the organization’s local journalism initiatives.
  • Ensure reporting reflects the highest standards of accuracy, independence, and accountability.
  • Establish and uphold editorial standards consistent with professional journalism practices.
  • Prioritize coverage that helps residents understand public decisions, civic life, and local impact.
  • Expand journalism distribution through newsletters, digital platforms, broadcast integration, and live civic forums.
  • Oversee development of documentaries, narrative features, cultural programming, and educational storytelling.
  • Ensure storytelling reflects the full life of the region including arts, culture, history, education, and lived experiences.
  • Expand storytelling across digital platforms and live experiences to deepen community engagement.
  • Develop and expand community correspondent and youth media initiatives.
  • Establish editorial standards for community storytelling, open submissions, and announcements.
  • Balance accessibility with editorial credibility and oversight.
  • Partner with educators and community organizations to support storytelling, ethics, and media literacy.
  • Serve as the final editorial authority for content classification and standards.
  • Establish risk tiers and review processes aligned with different content types.
  • Maintain editorial policies that support transparency, clarity, and public confidence.
  • Use audience insights and analytics to guide editorial priorities and distribution strategies.
  • Position the organization as a convener of civic dialogue and cultural storytelling.
  • Expand integration across broadcast, digital platforms, and live events.
  • Collaborate with Development and Membership teams to create content-driven revenue opportunities.
  • Ensure content initiatives support donor engagement, sponsorships, and membership growth.
  • Pursue partnerships with schools, businesses, cultural institutions, and nonprofit organizations.
  • Expand community engagement and audience reach through impactful journalism and storytelling.
  • Drive sustainable revenue opportunities through strategic content initiatives.
  • Serve as a strategic partner to the CEO on editorial direction and organizational priorities.
  • Strengthen collaboration with local voices, educators, nonprofit organizations, and civic leaders.
