About The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Vice President of Accounting to join our team and play a key role in managing our financial and operational processes. We are looking for a meticulous and experienced individual to oversee record-keeping, financial reporting and inventory management. This role involves handling Accounts Receivable (A/R), Accounts Payables (A/P), supervising payroll, and ensuring accurate financial documentation and reporting. The ideal candidate will support the CEO in achieving both short- and long-term financial goals and contribute to the organization. Maintain high standards of professionalism, integrity, and communication while adhering to Goodwill's core values, policies, and procedures. Ensure 100% satisfaction of donors and customers. Assist the CEO in formulating and executing financial policies and goals. Review departmental activities, cost, and forecasts to meet organizational objectives. Develop and manage departmental budgets, expenditure reports, and capital improvements. Supervise financial and personnel processes, including internal audits and income/expense analysis. Collaborate with Missions, IT, Operations, and Human Resources to enhance operational quality and cost control. Prepare and analyze financial reports, including tax reports, payroll, and P&L statements. Oversee staff payroll and maintain accurate records.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting
  • 5 years of experience in non-profit accounting management preferred.
  • Proficiency in financial IT applications and infrastructure.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Current Texas Driver's License
  • Must be able to stand, walk, sit, use hands, and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Requires specific vision abilities, including close, distance, and color vision.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with Goodwill or working with people with disabilities is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and strategic direction to the accounting team, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and implement processes and procedures to improve efficiency, accuracy, and profitability.
  • Oversee the preparation and review of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow.
  • Analyze financial data to identify areas for improvement, drive cost savings, and enhance revenue growth.
  • Manage and supervise a team of accountants, ensuring effective communication, and providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sale and business development, to drive strategic planning and business growth.
  • Identify and pursue business development opportunities that align with the company's goals and objectives.
  • Develop and manage budgets, financial forecasts, and profit and loss statements.
  • Implement project management tools and methodologies to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of projects.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging innovation and process improvement initiatives.
