About The Position

Serves as a dynamic executive leader responsible for shaping and advancing a high performing marketing and communications function across the Memorial Health enterprise. This role sets informative, timely and effective marketing and communications strategies which strengthen the Memorial Health brand, deepen engagement with key internal and external audiences and drive measurable growth and performance improvement aligned with the enterprise strategic plan. The VP advances Memorial Health’s mission and vision by ensuring brand and messaging that reflect a strong commitment to patient, community and workforce needs. Bringing deep expertise in integrated marketing, communications and digital experience strategy, the VP will balance strategy with operations, leading a high-performing team of marketing, communications and digital experience professionals. The VP will drive exceptional results by establishing clear goals, key performance indicators (KPIs) and accountability standards which foster effectiveness, brand strength, audience engagement, digital performance and return on investment (ROI). Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, marketing, public relations or related field required
  • Minimum of ten years’ experience in communications, marketing, public relations, digital, or related disciplines.
  • Minimum of five years of demonstrated leadership experience required.
  • Demonstrated leadership, team-building and performance management skills.
  • Demonstrate assessment, consultation and excellent human relation skills to work with a broad range of people in diverse settings, both internal and external to MHS.
  • Demonstrated marketing, advertising, communications, public relations and digital experience knowledge; healthcare industry a plus.

  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects at once and execute marketing/communications plans from start to finish including the concept, design, distribution and measurement stages.
  • Demonstrated ability to gather, interpret and analyze data to build effective and efficient marketing/communications plans.
  • Demonstrated competency in providing feedback, drawing conclusions and providing recommendations for executing effective marketing and communications.
  • Advanced interview skills coupled with exceptional listening skills; strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate and measure the quantitative and qualitative impact of marketing/communications initiatives to make sound, data-based decisions and show return on investment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of traditional and modern communication styles and preferred methods for varied audiences, including but not limited to print, email, websites, social media, answer engines (LLMs) and video.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computer/technical skills with reporting and presentation tools utilizing Microsoft applications.
  • Strong personal and professional commitment to Memorial Health System’s mission, vision, values and health system culture.
  • Proven ability to quickly grasp industry and business-wide concepts in order to assess implications to drive actions and to capitalize on opportunities.
  • Proven track record of success working in and leading cross-functional teams where achieving effective outcomes relies on an ability to work cooperatively with others (persuade and influence) rather than on formal reporting hierarchies.

  • Master’s degree strongly preferred.
  • Health care experience a plus but not required; previous vice-president level experience preferred.

  • Enterprise Strategy and Growth
  • Works closely with enterprise Strategy team and executive leadership to align marketing and communications priorities with Memorial Health’s strategic plan and objectives.
  • Develops and executes an impactful enterprise-wide marketing and communications strategy which is effective, efficient and responsive to evolving healthcare and audience trends.
  • Collaborates with physician enterprise and clinical leaders to build and execute growth plans that support physician alignment and key service line priorities.
  • Drives enterprise brand and growth initiatives that strengthen market position, reputation and value proposition across sites of care.
  • Leverages consumer insights, market intelligence and data analytics to identify and target key market segments and develop marketing and communications strategies that support the strategic goals of the system.
  • Digital Transformation
  • Leads the strategic evolution of digital marketing and communications platforms, partnering closely with key stakeholders to ensure seamless integration with enterprise systems and clinical operations.
  • Drives data-informed performance through analytics, dashboards and KPIs that measure effectiveness, reputation and ROI.
  • Leverages emerging technologies to improve audience reach and experience.
  • Ensures digital content strategies align with brand standards, accessibility compliance and communication or diverse audiences.
  • Brand, Communications and Content Strategy
  • Stewards and advances the health system’s brand identity through consistent and cohesive messaging, storytelling and visual identity across channels.
  • Leads public relations and media strategy to protect and promote Memorial Health’s brand reputation; serves as a strategic advisor and spokesperson during crisis situations, ensuring timely, accurate and transparent communication.
  • Utilizes patient, physician, community and workforce insights to refine brand strategy and strengthen trust, loyalty and preference for the system and its key services.
  • Aligns consumer and employer brand, strengthening recruitment, retention and engagement.
  • Develops and executes a comprehensive executive visibility strategy and disciplined cadence of executive communications to reinforce strategic priorities, culture and performance.
  • Integrated Campaigns and Enterprise Collaboration
  • Serves as a connector and integrator across the enterprise, ensuring that messaging, branding, and campaigns present a unified story to patients, physicians, workforce and community partners.
  • Champions a culture of collaboration, transparency and shared success metrics, helping leadership view marketing and communications as a strategic enterprise partner.
  • Develops and enhances relationships with various individuals and groups across the health system (i.e. hospital presidents, physician leaders, business development, clinical operations, fundraising professionals and others) to further enhance communications and marketing strategies.
  • Proactively sources opportunities for communications and marketing and rounds with key partners to assess organization needs.
  • Oversees strategy and execution for signature enterprise events that reinforce the Memorial Health brand, support growth priorities and deepen relationships.
  • Team and Operational Leadership
  • Lead, mentor and develop a high performing marketing and communications team with clear roles, expectations and success metrics; champion professional development, training and knowledge-sharing to ensure team members stay current on healthcare, consumer and digital best practices.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, continuous improvement and engagement aligned with Memorial Health’s mission, vision and values.
  • Develop and oversee operating models, workflows and governance for intake, prioritization and execution of strategic and operational portfolio of work.
  • Leverage emerging technologies (e.g. AI) to optimize marketing and communications responsiveness, productivity and support of the organization’s goals.
  • Leads ongoing improvement of marketing and communications services, drawing on internal feedback to refine priorities, processes, and delivery.
  • Manage budgets, resources and vendor partnerships ensuring efficient use of investments and talent, with clear ROI expectations for major initiatives.
