About The Position

The Vice President of Lending is a senior leadership role responsible for the strategic direction, operational oversight, and performance of the credit union’s consumer lending, consumer loan operations, and mortgage departments. Reporting to the Chief Lending Officer, this position plays a critical role in executing the credit union’s lending strategy, driving sustainable growth, elevating the member experience, and ensuring strong risk management practices. The Vice President of Lending leads innovation initiatives, advances automation and operational efficiency, develops competitive lending products, and fosters a high-performance, member-focused culture across all lending functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related field required.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive lending experience within a credit union or financial institution.
  • At least 5 years in senior level leadership roles.
  • Strong background in strategic planning, process improvement, and technology driven innovation.
  • Strong knowledge of consumer, commercial, and mortgage software systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop teams with a focus on collaboration and results.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey financial information clearly and concisely.
  • Demonstrated initiative, accountability, and problem-solving ability.

Responsibilities

  • Growth Strategy Development • Collaborate with the Chief Lending Officer to design and implement short- and long-term lending strategies aligned with organizational goals risk appetite, and growth targets.
  • Market Expansion & Member Experience Initiatives • Demonstrate proven success in customer, commercial, and mortgage focused loan sales and service environments. • Identify, evaluate, and implement innovative lending practices, technologies, and fintech partnerships to enhance efficiency, scalability, and member satisfaction. • Support enterprise-wide initiatives related to digital transformation, automation, and data driven decision making.
  • Consumer Insights & Marketing Alignment • Analyze market trends, competitive dynamics, portfolio performance, and member needs to guide strategic decisions and product enhancements.
  • Compliance & Risk Management Responsible for selling and cross-selling Credit Union services to current and potential members. Credit Union services are to be promoted using the member benefit-based approach. Fully complies with all SRP Credit Union policies, procedures, guidelines, and service standards, including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act and OFAC Policies.
  • Leadership & Team Development • Provide direct leadership to AVPs and managers within consumer lending, loan operations, and mortgage. • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and service excellence. • Communicate organizational goals and priorities, ensuring alignment across lending teams. • Conduct regular team meetings to review progress, discuss process improvements, and strengthen engagement. • Establish clear expectations, performance metrics, and accountability structures aligned with organizational objectives. • Recruit, train, and develop lending and operations staff to support departmental effectiveness and professional growth. • Participate in Leadership Group meetings to support cross functional communication and strategic alignment.
  • Other Responsibilities • Assist with special projects, financial analysis, and reporting as assigned. • Support cross departmental initiatives that enhance financial transparency and operational success. • Model the credit union’s mission, vision, values, and member first philosophy. • Represent the credit union at community events, industry functions, and local organizations to strengthen community presence. • Maintain awareness of industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging best practices.
