About The Position

The Vice President, Insurance and Reinsurance is a highly analytical, motivated, and detail-oriented role that is responsible for analyzing both current and potential opportunities across Radian’s Insurance and Reinsurance businesses. This role will be pivotal in developing and maintaining complex financial models that drive strategic decision-making across the company. This individual will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders including underwriting, finance, risk management, legal, and executive functions to provide data-driven insights and support key business initiatives. This position requires extensive underwriting experience across multiple lines of insurance (such as property, casualty, specialty, mortgage, and others) and a deep understanding of insurance and reinsurance markets and structures. The VP will play a key role in optimizing risk management, supporting business growth, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced or specialized degree and/or certification (Master of Business Administration (MBA), Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Associate in Risk Management (ARM), etc.) preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in insurance underwriting with significant exposure to multiple lines (property, casualty, specialty, etc.).
  • At least 5 years of experience in reinsurance placement, strategy, or management.
  • Proven track record of negotiating complex reinsurance contracts and managing relationships with reinsurers and brokers.
  • Experience with reviewing, evaluating, and advising on business plans, risk frameworks, and capital allocation strategies.
  • Strong analytical, strategic, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal abilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of insurance and reinsurance regulations and best practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Underwriting or Actuarial credentials (e.g., Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS) or Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS) or relevant insurance qualifications (e.g., Associateship of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII) are highly valued.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and evaluate capital deployment opportunities across Radian’s insurance business and make recommendations to senior leaders.
  • Build and maintain comprehensive financial models to drive strategic decision-making across the Company.
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including underwriting, finance, risk management, legal, and executive functions to provide data-driven insights and support key business initiatives.
  • Evaluate and recommend appropriate reinsurance structures (quota share, excess of loss, stop loss, etc.) for various insurance portfolios.
  • Monitor insurance and reinsurance market trends, pricing, and capacity to inform decision-making.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or apparent.

Benefits

  • Competitive Compensation : anticipated base salary from $ 150,000 to $279,000 based on skills and experience. This position is eligible to participate in an annual incentive program and a long-term incentive program .
