This position is open to candidates across Canada, with all employees working remotely from their homes. Candidates must have a suitable space at home they can use for work, along with reliable high-speed internet. This role requires some non-standard hours to support global needs.

IIBA operates a modern information technology stack with full native SaaS platforms, AI agents, high levels of integration, single source data and business process architecture and a constant focus on simplification, automation and real time information delivery. Key technology partners include Microsoft (Azure, Business Central, PowerBI and 365), Salesforce, Jitterbit, Jira, and Optimizely addressing both internal and member/partner needs across a global, fully virtual operating environment with no internal hardware assets.
The Vice President, Information Technology/CIO provides executive leadership and strategic direction for all information technology functions across IIBA. The role is responsible for architecting, managing and aligning the technology strategy and stack with organizational needs, supporting information products, members, partners and chapters, and ensuring the secure, efficient, and scalable delivery of IT services. The technology team is currently comprised of 8 staff, including 2 Senior Managers overseeing applications and infrastructure. IIBA has a full-time staff of approximately 50 in 7 countries, and supports 500 partners, 1,500 volunteers and 110 chapters in 40 countries.
The Vice President, Information Technology/CIO will partner closely with leaders and business stakeholders to plan, implement, and govern short- and long-term technology initiatives that support operational excellence and strategic growth. The role oversees IT strategy, IT governance, IT operations, resource allocation, licensing and vendor management, compliance, and IT security. The Vice President, Information Technology/CIO will function as IIBA’s Chief Information Security Officer for internal, external, and Board accountabilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and strategic direction for IIBA’s technology strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and the secure, efficient, and scalable delivery of IT services.
• Collaborate closely with executive leaders and business stakeholders to design, implement, and govern technology initiatives supporting operational excellence and strategic growth.
• Oversee IT governance, operations, resource allocation, licensing and vendor management, compliance, and IT security. Serve as IIBA’s Chief Information Security Officer, accountable internally, externally, and to the Board.
• Lead and develop a high-performing, service-oriented IT function, operating with a player-coach mindset and fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and modern delivery practices.
• Own and evolve IIBA’s technology platforms and architecture (including Salesforce, Microsoft and digital experience platforms), with a strong focus on integration, scalability, and long-term sustainability.
• Establish and embed modern delivery and DevOps practices across platforms, including environments, testing, release cadence, governance and workflow management, enabling faster, lower-risk delivery from idea through to production.
• Partner closely with business and product leaders to translate strategic priorities and customer needs into practical, high-impact technology solutions that measurably support IIBA’s strategic and annual goals.
• Enable data-driven decision-making by strengthening analytics, reporting and insight capabilities for the Senior Leadership Team and business leaders.
• Ensure the reliability, security and performance of IIBA’s technology environment, minimizing operational friction and enabling staff, members, partners and chapters to work effectively.
• Act as a change leader, helping the organization adopt more agile, iterative and evidence-based ways of working across technology and business teams.
• Oversee technology investment, budgets, resourcing and vendor partnerships to maximize value, reduce risk, and support sustainable growth.
