About The Position

The Vice President of Global Environmental, Health, Safety (EHS), and Business Continuity (BC) will lead the transformation of Goodyear’s global EHS and BC functions by driving a cultural shift toward proactive safety and operational resilience. This executive will spearhead enterprise-wide initiatives that embed EHS excellence into the company’s culture - developing innovative programs, modernizing global standards, and fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Key transformational initiatives include building a unified global safety culture, leveraging advanced data analytics to inform strategy, and aligning EHS and BC efforts with long-term business objectives. The role will also lead the redesign of performance metrics, integrate external benchmarks, and champion cross-functional collaboration to elevate EHS practices across all regions and functions. A critical component of this role is the direct leadership of regional EHS leaders across both manufacturing and non-manufacturing operations. This structure ensures consistent execution of global strategies, streamlined implementation of programs, and enhanced operational efficiency. Additionally, the VP will ensure compliance with financial and regulatory reporting (including Sarbanes-Oxley Act - SOX) and maintain robust business continuity frameworks to safeguard operations from disruptions and act quickly upon them. This role is instrumental in positioning Goodyear as a global leader in EHS, sustainability, and resilience.

Requirements

  • 15 or more years of manufacturing and industrial experience, ideally within global matrixed organization (with solid understanding of EHS and sustainability functions)
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act (OSHA) - Use safety regulations as a base for Goodyear safety reporting
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and environmental standards from around the world
  • Knowledge of TASCA and United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requirements as well as industrial hygiene, material safety data sheet (MSDS), Reach and Sustainability
  • Strong presentation, public speaking, business acumen, leadership, resilience/agility, interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to drive and influence from the center across a largely complex matrixed organization.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible to create transformational global systems and processes to eliminate injuries and illness in the workplace.
  • Ensure that a global audit process is in place to measure quality and effectiveness of the systems and processes and provide performance results to leadership.
  • Establish systems to manage capital expenditure (CAPEX) to address global facility-wide EHS issues. All of this will be accomplished with a focused culture improvement plan.
  • Responsible to drive completion of requirements and compliance to mandatory environmental releases (MERs) and mandatory safety releases (MSRs).
  • Ensure systems are developed that lead to compliance to governmental mandates globally. Ensure that a global audit process is developed, implemented and sustains compliance.
  • Development and creation of global Goodyear strategy, working with the Board of Directors (BOD) to ensure strategy alignment with business needs.
  • Provide updates to executive leadership regarding metric performance, system progress and compliance status.
  • Partner with Global Operations senior leaders to prepare for quarterly meeting with Executive Leadership Council to discuss forward plans, policies and strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Global Operations leaders to prepare/present the annual update to the BOD Corporate Responsibility & Compliance Committee on the status of compliance/activities.
  • Responsible for the development and delivery of targets specifically for the Responsible Operations workstream of the Corporate Responsibility Report.
  • Responsible for global business continuity. Ensure all business units implement and adhere to global objectives to analyze risk, identify critical processes and build executable plans for major incidents.
