We are seeking a strategic, collaborative, and forward-thinking leader for this critical Vice President role in the FAC Risk and Control (FRC) team. This position provides enterprise-wide oversight of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and Model Audit Rule (MAR) controls across Retirement Strategies, Global Technology and Operations (GTO) and International, with a specific focus on Japan. You will be at the forefront of guiding the FRC team through ongoing transformation and increased global complexity, championing innovation, change leadership, and continuous improvement in Prudential’s evolving risk and control landscape. The VP will also lead program oversight for FAC models, End User Computing Solutions (EUCS) and the implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools and play a pivotal role in the ongoing implementation of strategic reinsurance initiatives, driving the assessment, design, and execution of financial reporting controls to support Prudential’s business objectives and financial strength. You’ll help foster a culture of trust, inclusion, and continuous improvement, aligned with Prudential’s core values. The position is a multi-dimensional role that offers significant influence on Prudential’s global financial reporting control environment.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in evaluating risks and controls, including a strong understanding of SOX and MAR requirements.
  • Demonstrated expertise in technology risk management, IT controls, and technology compliance with a focus on SOX and MAR environments within a large, complex organization.
  • Knowledge of the Retirement Strategies business, including both institutional products and individual annuities.
  • Understanding of the Company’s models, EUCS and AI control frameworks and requirements.
  • Proven executive leadership experience managing senior professionals and complex, cross-functional business functions.
  • Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams, including offshore members.
  • Experience leading teams through transformation and change initiatives, particularly in global and highly regulated environments.
  • Strong stakeholder management, influencing and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated success in achieving long-term goals while managing short-term challenges.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a challenging environment.

Nice To Haves

  • CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor) designation strongly preferred; CPA and CIA are also valued.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and direct accountability for SOX and MAR controls across Retirement Strategies, GTO and International, with a particular focus on transforming controls and supporting enterprise-wide change initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the GTO risk team specifically for SOX and MAR controls including IT general controls, application controls, and digital transformation governance supporting financial reporting requirements.
  • Provide ongoing operational risk support for the FAC Retirement Strategies team, ensuring SOX and MAR compliance, executing risk assessments, and delivering risk management expertise, as needed.
  • Drive the financial reporting control efforts and lead the identification, design, and execution of key controls for new and evolving strategic reinsurance initiatives, ensuring robust risk management and regulatory compliance throughout transformation.
  • Support and enable the control impacts of major FAC transformation projects, serving as a catalyst for change and ensuring risk and control standards keep pace with business evolution and global complexity.
  • Oversee program management for FAC models, EUCS and AI, working closely with Enterprise Risk Management on the risk framework and ensuring FAC’s ongoing compliance with all related requirements.
  • Identify and develop control issues as they arise, analyze root causes, and partner with management to design and implement meaningful actions that address underlying problems, ensuring control design is adequate and enhanced controls are operating effectively.
  • Lead and develop a small, high-performing team, while overseeing the work of EY co-sourcing supporting key deliverables.
  • Coordinate extensively with Prudential’s control partners, including Internal Audit, Operational Risk, Compliance, and the Company’s external auditor to ensure alignment, transparency, and effective execution of risk and control initiatives.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and partner across the enterprise, fostering stakeholder relationships and upholding Prudential’s standards of integrity.
