About The Position

The Vice President, Finance and Accounting is the senior financial leader for Empire Homes' Colorado region, overseeing financial strategy, planning, forecasting, and reporting across land development and homebuilding. It manages all regional accounting operations, ensuring strong principles, procedures, and internal controls. The position owns the full financial picture, including GAAP compliance, audits, financial discipline, and accurate, timely financial statements. It also drives consistent financial practices, supports strategic decision-making, and maintains a high-performing finance team. This role is located at the regional office located at 13737 Struthers Rd., Suite 200, Colorado Springs, CO 80921.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related discipline required
  • 10+ years of finance/accounting experience at a leadership level within a multi-divisional matrix organization within a public or private homebuilder
  • Knowledge of cost accounting in the homebuilding/construction industry
  • Advance proficiency with finance and accounting systems as software, especially NewStar
  • Track record of building financial infrastructure to support scale.

  • MBA is a plus
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Senior financial leader for the Colorado region overseeing all accounting, forecasting, reporting, and financial strategy across land development and homebuilding.
  • Owns full financial operations including GAAP compliance, internal controls, audits, and timely monthly/quarterly/annual financial statements.
  • Leads and develops the accounting/finance team while driving financial discipline, accuracy, and standardized reporting practices across the region.
  • Manages balance sheet performance, working capital, cash projections, and long‑range financial models tied to land pipeline and growth.
  • Provides executive-level financial analysis, profitability insights, and decision support across communities, product types, and development phases.
  • Oversees budgeting, general ledger integrity, variance analysis, tax/audit coordination, and compliance with financial, tax, and regulatory requirements.
  • Reviews and approves capital allocation, asset management, forecasting, and risk mitigation strategies to optimize margins and overall financial performance.
  • Prepares monthly performance analyses, identifies revenue/expense drivers, and recommends actions to improve cost efficiency and profitability.
