About the Team Workday is the enterprise AI platform for people, money, and agents, enabling over 11,000 customers to move business forward with a single, open platform. Workday’s developer platform, Workday Build, empowers third party developers with the tools to build custom AI agents and apps that live in and run on Workday, and is one of our fastest growing product lines. The Workday Developer Platform team is responsible for the products and platform that empowers customer and partner developers to build AI apps and agents that run natively on the Workday platform. About the Role We are seeking an exceptionally motivated Vice President of Engineering to serve as Head of Engineering for Workday’s Developer Platform. This executive, reporting to GM, Developer Platform, will be accountable for the growth and operations of a world-class engineering practice, driving top-line revenue growth by building new agentic AI products for the Workday developer community, and delivering profitability through continuous cost control and monitoring.

Requirements

  • Executive Leadership: 15+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years as a Director or VP leading large (100+ people), global, multi-disciplinary platform engineering teams, with people managers reporting to you.
  • Cloud & Platform Expertise: Deep, verifiable experience in designing, launching, and operating enterprise-class, large-scale distributed systems and cloud platforms.
  • Business Acumen: Demonstrated history of collaborating with Product Management to define roadmaps that successfully balance innovation, technical debt, and direct business/revenue objectives.
  • Education: BS in Computer Science or a related field; a Graduate Degree (MS or MBA) is highly desirable.

  • Experience building and launching developer products/platforms is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership Executive Leadership & Organizational Scaling: Lead and scale a global, multi-site organization of engineering managers, architects, and software engineers of approximately 100. Foster a culture of technical excellence, accountability, speed, and continuous learning.
  • Agentic AI Vision & Execution: Define and execute a multi-year technical vision for Workday’s developer platform that empowers developers to create exponential outcomes with new Agentic AI products you deliver to market.
  • High-Quality Delivery at Scale: Oversee the end-to-end development, launch, and post-launch support for all developer platform capabilities, ensuring they meet rigorous enterprise standards for security, reliability, and performance.
  • Talent Strategy & Development: Recruit, mentor, and retain world-class engineering and management talent. Develop the organization's technical and leadership capabilities to meet long-term strategic growth objectives.
  • Drive Business Success & Operational Rigor Drive Revenue Enablement: Partner closely with Product, Strategy, and GTM to align the engineering roadmap with strategic market opportunities, directly enabling $XXX Million in annual recurring revenue (ARR) targets for the developer platform.
  • Own the Technical P&L Contribution: Be directly accountable for the platform’s financial success, ensuring engineering investment translates into platform features that drive customer adoption, recurring revenue, and superior gross margins.
  • Operational Stewardship: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level objectives (SLOs) that directly map engineering productivity and operational costs to the overall profitability and customer satisfaction metrics.
  • Cross-Functional Executive Collaboration: Serve as the engineering face of Workday’s developer platform, regularly presenting platform strategy, progress, and business impact to C-suite executives, key customers and partners, and at industry events. Drive architectural consensus and technology adoption across Workday platform teams.
