About The Position

CenterSquare is undertaking a significant initiative to modernize the core data and analytics infrastructure that underpins our investment research and forecasting processes. The Vice President, Data Engineering – Investment Research will own the design and execution of the transition to a scalable, well-governed data platform and the implementation of quantitative tools to improve decision making capabilities across our Public and Private Real Estate Platforms. This role is intended for a senior individual contributor who combines deep technical capability and investment management knowledge with strong judgment and program ownership, and who is comfortable operating in ambiguity, sequencing complex initiatives, and making pragmatic tradeoffs in service of institutional-grade reliability. The successful candidate will bring strong data engineering and quantitative analysis expertise alongside program management capabilities and the ability to operate independently in a high-expectation environment. The position will be based in CenterSquare’s headquarters office located in Conshohocken, PA.

Requirements

  • 4-6+ years of experience in data engineering, data analysis, and research platform development
  • Undergraduate and/or graduate degree in Computer Science, Applied Math, Engineering, Quantitative Economics with demonstrated strong academic performance; CFA certification or willingness to obtain is preferred
  • Experience in investment management, financial research, or real estate
  • Advanced proficiency in Python, R, and SQL
  • Experience using AI tools including LLMs and Machine Learning
  • Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, critical thinking, and work ethic
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently and manage complex initiatives.
  • Experience designing relational data models and managing modern data infrastructure.
  • Prior experience upgrading existing workflows and data solutions to new architectures

Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement a modern data platform supporting macroeconomic, real estate, and proprietary datasets
  • Design scalable ingestion, transformation, and validation pipelines
  • Define data models, lineage, and documentation standards
  • Select appropriate storage and compute technologies
  • Translate Excel-based research workflows into production-grade systems
  • Manage the transition from the legacy environment to the future state environment
  • Introduce versioning, testing, and governance without disrupting active investment processes
  • Function as the single point of ownership for a multi-phase platform build spanning data ingestion, legacy model migration, and analytics enablement
  • Manage dependencies across technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Bring structured options and recommendations to leadership rather than open-ended questions
  • Balance short-term delivery needs with long-term architectural integrity
  • Enable reproducible forecasting, scenario analysis, and reporting workflows
  • Build tools that allow non-technical users to interact with core data products
  • Support downstream analytics while maintaining platform integrity
