Small Business Lending, LLC. is looking to add a Vice President, Credit Manager, to its team! The Vice President, Credit Manager is responsible for leading and managing a team of underwriting professionals to achieve performance metrics related to loan production, portfolio quality, and risk mitigation. This role ensures compliance with the Bank's policy, regulatory guidelines and standard operating procedures (SOP) of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). The VP, Credit Manager reviews and presents loan request to credit committee members and works closely with senior management to ensure sound underwriting standards and production goals are met. The role interfaces regularly with the Credit Committee and Director of Credit Underwriting on client requests and approvals. The position also leverages in-house software, technology platforms, and reporting tools to support informed credit and risk management decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of managerial credit underwriting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of SBA lending guidelines, credit structuring, and risk management practices.
  • Advanced financial statement analysis and credit underwriting expertise.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability with experience managing and developing high-performing underwriting teams.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and sound decision-making skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including experience presenting to executive leadership and credit committees.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to balance production objectives with prudent risk management and regulatory compliance.

Nice To Haves

  • Formal bank credit training strongly preferred.
  • SBA regulatory training and demonstrated experience with 7A and 504 SBA loan programs highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise an Underwriting Team regarding all credit reviews, financial analyses, and recommendations to the Credit Committee.
  • Hire, train, coach, mentor, and evaluate underwriters to enhance credit analysis capabilities, industry expertise, and product knowledge.
  • Maintain underwriting quality, ensuring adherence to policy, SOP and regulations.
  • Present credit findings and recommendations directly to the Credit Committee and executive leadership.
  • Prepare and submit detailed credit write-ups and risk assessments for Credit Committee approval.
  • Ensure loans are structured and funded in full compliance with approved credit policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with senior management to meet production goals while maintaining strong portfolio quality standards.
  • Assist in improving, defining, and implementing credit and underwriting procedures as necessary to enhance risk controls and operational efficiency.
  • Participate in internal and external audits related to credit and collections policies and ensure timely remediation of findings.
  • Utilize internal systems, reporting tools, and technology platforms to monitor performance metrics, risk trends, and compliance adherence.
  • Ensure full compliance with all applicable external regulations and internal controls.
