About The Position

Vice President Consumer Lending Full Time (Onsite) Monday - Friday, Saturdays as needed Headquarters 630 Trade Center Drive Las Vegas, NV 89119 PURPOSE: The Primary purpose of this position is to assist Silver State Schools Credit Union to live out its Mission, "Excellent Member Service and Financial Solutions – For Life," by providing outstanding service to both members and internal members. Develop a highly effective team of employees to their highest potential through coaching and leadership. A key component of this service is to identify the financial needs of the member and recommend an appropriate credit union solution. Performs job duties within our bylaws, regulations, Board of Directors policies, established internal and external service standards and our work procedures. Train and supervise branch staff. Assign, direct, coordinate and review work performed by staff. Maintains a highly motivated, well-trained staff maintaining effective employee relations. SUMMARY: The VP Consumer Lending manages the department staff in making credit decisions on new loan requests; in adherence to credit union's loan policies, operating guidelines and procedures; ensuring timely disclosure, decisioning, processing, and funding of consumer loans. This position is also responsible for ensuring the most efficient use of workflows and technology to reduce operational costs and to ensure strict compliance with state and federal consumer regulations. This position manages the largest portfolio of the organization and requires oversight of performance and produces recommendations for pricing and changes.

Requirements

  • A Bachelors degree, or five to eight years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience with a larger credit union, bank, or Savings and Loan.

Responsibilities

  • Manages consumer lending programs and portfolio, including the direct and indirect vehicle (CUDL) and personal loan programs, Home Improvement loans, including the development and implementation of objectives, policies and practices.
  • Assists in implementing new products and services.
  • Responsible for the card services department which includes both debit and credit cards and all the processes associated with the cards
  • Makes recommendations regarding enhancements to existing programs, or the development of new programs to maximize loan yields while maintaining the stability of a strong and secure portfolio.
  • Ensures a harmonious relationship exists within and between the department lending staff and the credit union's front-line sales staff, other departments within the credit union, and with approved credit union service providers.
  • Ensures that the department operations staff is trained, tracked and is working at all times with a sense of urgency in meeting and exceeding service level expectations for loan requests as follows: Auto loans, signature loans, credit card, home improvements, etc loans are decisioned in a timely manner defined as all loans received by 3:00 PM will be decisioned the same day. Loans received after 3:00 PM will be decisioned the next business day. Responsible for the automated decision parameters and performance Indirect loans will be decisioned within 15 minutes of receipt of the application. Indirect loans will be funded within 3 days of receiving the loan package. Loan decisions will be verbally communicated back to the dealership at the time of decision. Card transaction disputes and card issuing are handled within a reasonable amount of time Monthly training and coaching on credit risk factors will be provided to the Credit Analyst as a way to achieve consistent underwriting.
  • Manages lending-related business development efforts for both consumer and real estate lending.
  • Ensures that negative credit decisions receive an accurate adverse action notice delivery within regulatory guidelines.
  • Ensures that closed loan files receive a timely quality control review and are scanned for retention in a timely manner.
  • Works to ensure accuracy exists for the processing, approval, closing and funding of all consumer loan requests.
  • Oversees the collection of data and preparation of daily, weekly and monthly department reports.
  • Reviews a weekly report of all lending activity and card services indicating trends, opportunities, strengths, and weaknesses.
  • Works with the Business Intelligence department to ensure the full use of department technology platforms and the collection of all loan-level attributes to assist with credit risk monitoring and reporting capabilities.
  • Works to ensure efficient use of department personnel and the improvement of workflows to ensure regulatory compliance with all aspects of lending operations.
  • Write and administer department staff performance reviews, make salary adjustment recommendations for staff and maintain attendance records.
  • Prepares and submits annual department budget to management in a timely manner and monitors budget variances and recommends changes for the following year.
  • Trains all front line staff on credit and consumer lending platform
  • Serves on Committees as assigned.
  • Performs ancillary duties as assigned at a high level.
