Due to a role transition in our leadership team, we are seeking a Vice President of Clinical Operations who believes clinical excellence and leadership culture are inseparable. This role sets the tone for how care is delivered, how people are led, and how trust is built across a large, complex EMS system. This is a visible, field-present leadership role. You will be responsible for the clinical experience and professional growth of more than 950 EMTs, paramedics, supervisors, and operations leaders across multiple service areas. The expectation is simple and demanding at the same time: show up, listen, follow through, and lead in a way people feel every day. This role is not about positional authority. It is about credibility, consistency, and accountability earned through presence, clinical experience, and how you treat people. You will ensure leadership behavior and culture are consistent across operations, with emphasis on visibility, respectful communication, and real connection with team members. You will lead clinical operations by supporting the conditions for great care, strong teams, high clinical standards, and systems that work in the real world. You will spend meaningful time in stations and with teams working around the clock. You will reinforce accountability without hierarchy. Great care will be recognized publicly. Performance issues will be addressed quietly, fairly, and effectively. Leadership expectations will be consistent at every level. This role has responsibility for: full clinical care delivery workforce, including EMTs, paramedics, non-emergency vehicle technicians, supervisors, and operations leadership active oversight of QA/QI systems, protocol development, clinical equipment, and regulatory relationships. expanding clinical scope, training depth, and specialty care programs while keeping care evidence-based, safe, and outcome-focused. Demand-based scheduling and working closely with the Vice President of Administration to align operations, communications, and system reliability. Support the enhancement of key internal programs including Critical Care Transport, Operations Leadership Development, and the Field Training Officer program Represent Medstar with medical control authorities, regional and state EMS bodies, boards, and professional associations. Building the next generation of leaders. Identify internal talent early, create clear growth pathways, and provide mentorship and project-based development. Develop a ready, values-aligned leadership bench at all times.
