About The Position

Adolfson and Peterson Construction is currently hiring for a Vice President Central Texas to oversee Central Texas (offices in Austin and San Antonio). The Vice President Central Texas will provide strategic and day-to-day leadership of the Central Texas office, drive business development efforts, manage the regional budget and ensure projects are delivered safely, profitably, and to the highest quality standards. This role will position the office for sustained growth and market leadership with full accountability for the operational performance, financial results, culture, and market growth of the region

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in construction management, architecture, Business, Engineering or related field and 15+ years of construction project management experience.
  • Demonstrated understanding of state-of-the-art construction financing, concepts and technology as well as value engineering, life cycle costing and project profit/cost processes.
  • Recognition and achievement of high quality construction standards
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
  • Demonstrated integrity and ethical standards.
  • Strategic thinking with experience driving growth and change; demonstrated effectiveness in driving operations and executing plans.
  • Ability to identify talent, create and develop teams, and build trust and engagement.
  • Capability to identify and capitalize on opportunities quickly; ability to maintain effective balance between strategic and tactical priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Take personal responsibility for working safely within an Incident and Injury Free (IIF) culture.
  • Office Leadership & Financial Performance Lead the office with full responsibility for revenue, profitability, and overall financial performance
  • Develop and manage the annual office operating budget, including revenue targets, overhead, staffing plans, and profit expectations.
  • Monitor financial performance regularly, identify variances, and take corrective action to ensure budget and margin targets are achieved.
  • Partner with the regional controller to manage overhead, forecasting, cash flow, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure all projects are delivered within budget and contribute positively to overall office profitability.
  • Establish clear financial expectations for Project Executives and project teams and hold leaders accountable for results.
  • Business Development & Market Growth Develop and execute a strategic business development plan aligned with company objectives and local market opportunities.
  • Personally lead key client relationships and serve as a senior representative of the company in the marketplace.
  • Identify, pursue, and help secure new business opportunities that align with profitability and risk objectives.
  • Collaborate with preconstruction and estimating teams to develop competitive pursuit strategies.
  • Leverage personal and company relationships with developers, architects, engineers, owners, and trade partners to drive sustained growth.
  • Track pipeline, backlog, and win rates to ensure consistent revenue flow and market expansion.
  • Operational Excellence & Project Oversight Ensure operational integrity and consistent execution across all projects within the office.
  • Establish performance expectations for schedule, quality, client satisfaction, and profitability.
  • Review project performance metrics regularly and intervene proactively to resolve issues.
  • Implement operational best practices to improve efficiency, reduce risk, and enhance margins.
  • Ensure all projects meet company quality standards and client expectations.
  • Talent Leadership & Organizational Development Build and maintain a high-performing office leadership team.
  • Identify, develop, and retain top talent; establish succession planning for key roles.
  • Create a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.
  • Align staffing plans with backlog and forecasted growth to support operational and financial goals.
  • Provide coaching and performance management to ensure leaders meet operational and financial objectives.
  • Strategic Planning & Regional Alignment As a member of the Regional Leadership Team - establish long-term strategic direction for the office.
  • Develop annual and multi-year business plans focused on growth, profitability, and market positioning.
  • Collaborate with other offices and business units to share resources, best practices, and pursuit strategies.
  • Maintain an effective balance between strategic planning and tactical execution.
  • Client Experience & Reputation Serve as the executive sponsor for key clients and high-profile projects.
  • Ensure exceptional client service, responsiveness, and issue resolution.
  • Drive client retention through consistent performance and relationship management.
  • Protect and enhance the company’s brand and reputation in the region.
  • Other duties as assigned
