Core values include: Integrity - Service - Excellence - Stability - Strength - Respect - Teamwork Role Overview of Vice President - Accounting: The Vice President – Accounting is a strategic financial leader responsible for overseeing all accounting operations for the Company. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, robust internal controls, regulatory compliance and effective management of key functional areas including accounting operations, procurement and treasury. This position partners closely with the CFO and other senior leaders to support corporate strategy, growth initiatives and financial excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ finance and/or accounting leadership experience.
  • Experience leading teams in a multi-entity, multi-state regulatory environment.
  • Insurance industry experience with a strong working knowledge of NAIC and Statutory Accounting Principles.
  • Strong working knowledge of all Microsoft Office products with emphasis on Advanced Excel capabilities.
  • Strong process orientation with a proven ability to streamline complex operations.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work on own initiative recognizing the timeliness of all responsibilities and functions of the job is required.
  • Ability to handle confidential information in an appropriate and professional manner.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA designation or directly relevant experience.
  • Experience with Guidewire and Workday, or similar billing and ERP systems.
  • P&C insurance industry experience.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates the Company’s mission, while successfully performing its core values related to integrity, service, excellence, stability, strength, respect, and teamwork.
  • Provide strategic leadership for accounting operations, procurement and treasury functions, ensuring all activities are timely, accurate and compliant.
  • Assist the CFO in the development and implementation of financial management goals, policies, priorities and procedures.
  • Support the development of financial forecasts, budgets and performance analytics, as requested.
  • Create and maintain management reporting for underlying functional areas.
  • Oversee daily accounting and procurement operations while driving process efficiency, accuracy and scalable workflows.
  • Manage an efficient, well-controlled monthly and quarterly close process for areas of responsibility.
  • Oversee daily cash operations, bank reconciliations and treasury functions to ensure proper liquidity management and accurate financial reporting.
  • Maintain a robust internal control environment aligned with MAR requirements.
  • Oversee policy and procedure documentation, risk assessments and controls testing.
  • Support external audits, internal audits, and regulatory examinations to ensure timely and accurate information.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state and federal reporting requirements.
  • Partner across functions to optimize accounting systems, improve data quality, and implement automation and technology enhancements.
  • Build, mentor and lead a high-performing team with strong accountability and continuous improvement focus.
  • Assess and maintain appropriate staffing levels to effectively accomplish the Company’s goals and objectives.
  • Lead various accounting projects, as directed by management.
  • Regular and prompt attendance in the office is an essential function of the position.
