Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- At least 18 years of age
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in veterinary clinical setting (Minimum of 1 year for assistant level)
- Strong technical skills in anesthesia, surgery support, venipuncture and diagnostics
- Working knowledge of veterinary terminology and medications
- Ability to safely and confidently restrain animals
- Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks (standing, bending, walking, lifting)
- Passion for fear-free or low-stress handling
- Self-motivated, dependable, and team-oriented
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians with exams, treatments, and procedures
- Prepare patients for surgery, including anesthesia administration, radiographs, and sample collection
- Monitor patients during and after procedures to ensure safety and comfort
- Maintain accurate, detailed medical records and patient histories
- Collect and process samples (blood, urine, fecal, etc.)
- Perform in-house lab testing and support interpretation of results
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as prescribed
- Safely restrain animals and provide low-stress handling
- Monitor hospitalized patients and communicate changes in condition
- Obtain accurate medical histories
- Educate clients on treatment plans, medications, and at-home care
- Help create a positive, trusting client experience
- Collaborate with veterinarians, assistants, and client service team members
- Assist the front desk when needed to support overall hospital flow
