Requirements

  • Certified veterinary technician (preferred) with a minimum of five years technical experience, and 2 years supervisory/management experience preferred
  • Professional demeanor and appearance, excellent interpersonal skills, and a positive, friendly attitude
  • Ability to plan, organize, make decisions, and communicate effectively and clearly with fellow team members, clients and doctors.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks at once, and deal with high levels of stress in an environment of changing priorities
  • Must be able to work full-time hours, flexibility a must, including occasional holidays.
  • Strong medical skills

Responsibilities

  • Directing workflow on the floor
  • Help with the interview process for potential new hires
  • Technician Scheduling
  • Assists in staffing and coverage where needed
  • Assists in the educational development of technicians and their skills
  • Assists in basic protocol and standard procedure training
  • Provide opportunities for staff to gain more firsthand experience
  • Mentoring technicians within the department
  • Working with department doctors to develop protocols to improve the service
  • Ensure that VCA polices, guidelines, and recommendations are implemented by all members of the technical staff.
