Responsible for providing daily routine care for animals under veterinary care in the general shelter population. Perform intake medical and behavior evaluations and intake diagnostics/treatments in compliance with established protocols. The role requires clear verbal and written communication skills to ensure accurate reporting of staff, animal health, or equipment concerns. A working knowledge of breeds, diseases, medical conditions, and animal handling and behavior is essential. The assistant will also collect, prepare, and label samples for laboratory testing, culture, or microscopic examination. The ability to learn and quickly adapt to changes in programs and procedures, and to follow all written and verbally communicated departmental standard operating procedures, is required.
