About The Position

The Highlands Veterinary Hospital is hiring a part-time or full-time Front-Desk Receptionist to be the first point of contact for our veterinary clients, playing a crucial role in setting the tone for their visit. We are looking for a customer service professional who excels in a fast-paced environment, communicates clearly, and is passionate about animal care. Highlands Veterinary Hospital is a full-service veterinary medical facility located in Sparta, New Jersey, dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality care for pets and their families. We treat dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets, guinea pigs, birds, reptiles, and other small animals with services ranging from wellness exams and preventive care to diagnostics, surgical care, dental services, and emergency support—all delivered with respect, empathy, and professionalism. Our experienced team works collaboratively to ensure each patient receives personalized attention and the best possible treatment at every stage of life. We strive to build trusting relationships with our clients and their pets and are committed to fostering a positive, supportive environment for both patients and staff.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a veterinary receptionist is required.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Ability to maintain a calm, professional, and positive demeanor

Responsibilities

  • Greet clients and their pets, complete the appointment sign-in process, confirm appointment details, and escort clients to exam rooms.
  • Ensure accurate service and product sales accounting, handle payments, process credit/debit cards, and schedule future appointments.
  • Answer client calls for appointments, hospital inquiries, medication refills, and other requests.
  • Make outbound calls for appointment reminders and follow-ups.
  • Understand common vaccination protocols, basic lab tests, common diseases, veterinary terminology, and pet behavior.
  • Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization to ensure a positive client experience.
