Over the course of this immersive year -long program, interns develop the skills and confidence needed to become competent, independent, and productive emergency veterinarians. Program Description: Duration: 13 months Objective: To develop well -rounded, confident emergency veterinarians through comprehensive clinical exposure and mentorship Shift Structure: The schedule is divided evenly among four shift type, daytime ER, overnight ER, hospitalist, and specialty block Hours: Three consecutive 12 -hour shifts per week, with an additional surgery day during hospitalist and daytime ER rotations (average 42 hours/week) Active participation in ER departmental meetings, Fellow Rounds, lectures, journal clubs, and Morbidity & Mortality rounds Mentorship: One -on -one mentorship on every case, with interns maintaining primary case responsibility Species Exposure: Interns manage canine, feline, and exotic emergency cases Educational Components: Weekly intern rounds covering core ER topics Intern -led annual case discussions Specialty blocks providing hands -on exposure to internal medicine, surgery, radiology, neurology, and other areas of interest
