About The Position

Veterinary Specialty Hospital (VSH) is seeking a Daytime Emergency & Critical Care (ECC) Supervisor to support the clinical and administrative operations of our ECC department. This role partners closely with the Hospital Service Manager to ensure high-quality patient care, efficient workflow, and a positive experience for both clients and team members. As an ECC Supervisor, you will serve as a key clinical resource and operational support for the daytime team—helping coordinate staffing, support team development, and maintain strong communication across departments while ensuring safe, compassionate, and timely patient care.

Requirements

  • RVT or VTS preferred, but not required
  • Previous experience in Emergency and Critical Care strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to support and guide team members in a fast-paced clinical environment
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and remain calm under pressure
  • Comfortable working collaboratively across departments
  • Basic mathematical and analytical skills to support staffing, workflow, and operational decision-making

Responsibilities

  • Support daily operations of the Emergency and Critical Care department to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels of support staff to meet patient care and workflow demands
  • Maintain awareness of department workflow and patient volume to proactively address operational needs
  • Assist with coordinating patient flow and interdepartmental communication to support timely care delivery
  • Serve as a clinical and operational resource for staff during assigned shifts
  • Monitor patient care and client service standards to ensure a consistent, positive experience
  • Identify operational challenges and collaborate on practical solutions to improve efficiency and team performance
  • Provide day-to-day guidance, coaching, and support to ECC team members
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and mutual respect
  • Assist with onboarding, training, and skill development for new and existing staff
  • Promote open communication and support a positive, collaborative work environment
  • Recognize team achievements and support performance feedback and development conversations
  • Participate in hiring, performance management, and employee engagement initiatives
  • Partner with the Hospital Service Manager and leadership team to support departmental goals and operational priorities
  • Communicate effectively with clinical teams, client care teams, and hospital leadership to ensure alignment and continuity of care
  • Facilitate communication across departments to support coordinated patient care and efficient hospital operations
  • Escalate operational or patient care concerns appropriately and in a timely manner
  • Monitor equipment functionality and communicate service or maintenance needs
  • Support safe handling and appropriate use of medical equipment and supplies
  • Assist in maintaining readiness of the department to meet patient care demands
