About The Position

Dogwood Veterinary Specialty & Emergency in Marietta, GA is seeking a highly experienced Emergency & Critical Care Veterinary Technician to join our growing specialty and emergency hospital. This is not an entry-level position. We are seeking confident, technically advanced veterinary technicians who thrive in high-acuity environments and are ready to practice at the top of their license in a true ER/Specialty setting. At Dogwood, you won’t just assist — you’ll contribute meaningfully to complex case management alongside five Board-Certified Criticalists and a collaborative team of emergency and specialty clinicians. Requirements

  • 3–5+ years of hands-on experience in Emergency, ICU, or Specialty Medicine
  • Strong triage and emergency case management skills
  • Advanced medical math proficiency (drug calculations, CRIs, anesthetic protocols)
  • Ability to remain calm, decisive, and effective in high-stress situations
  • Confidence working independently while collaborating within a specialty team
  • LVT / RVT / CVT strongly preferred
  • Highly experienced non-credentialed ECC technicians will be considered

Responsibilities

  • Triage and stabilize emergent and critical patients
  • Recognize and respond to trauma, shock, respiratory distress, GDV, sepsis, cardiac events, and multi-system emergencies
  • Perform and assist with CPR and advanced life-saving interventions
  • Calculate and administer CRIs, fluid therapy, blood products, and emergency medications
  • Assist with emergency and specialty surgical procedures
  • Perform advanced anesthesia monitoring (ECG, capnography, invasive BP, pulse oximetry)
  • Manage CRIs, analgesia protocols, and perioperative care
  • Deliver detailed post-operative monitoring and pain management
  • Operate and interpret ECG, capnography, pulse oximetry, Doppler/oscillometric BP
  • Perform in-house laboratory diagnostics (CBC, chemistry, blood gases, coagulation testing, urinalysis)
  • Assist with digital radiography and ultrasound procedures
  • Monitor ICU patients requiring oxygen therapy, transfusions, and continuous support
