VCA SylvaniaVET Animal Hospital is expanding our Patient Care Team and seeking a full-time Veterinary Assistant. The Role As a Veterinary Assistant, you’ll play a key role in supporting patient care and enhancing the client experience. Requirements
- Veterinary Assistant experience preferred (but willing to train the right candidate)
- Passion for animal care and a commitment to Fear Free handling techniques
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Eagerness to learn and grow within the veterinary field
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians and technicians with patient care and treatments
- Safely restrain pets for exams and procedures using Fear Free techniques
- Prepare exam rooms and surgical suites
- Support anesthesia and surgical procedures as needed
- Collect samples and assist with in-house laboratory diagnostics
- Administer medications directed by the DVM
- Perform basic husbandry and nursing care for hospitalized patients
- Maintain accurate and thorough medical records
- Educate clients on general pet care, medications, and discharge instructions
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe hospital environment
