About The Position
VCA Big Lake Animal Hospital, located on the out skirts of Wasilla, AK . We are looking for a Veterinary Assistant to join our 3-doctor General Practice! We need an up-beat friendly Veterinary Assistant who would like to provide excellent patient care with a focus on wellness and client education. Veterinary Assistants are responsible for preparing exam rooms for the doctors and assisting in providing education and support to the clients. What makes VCA Big Lake Unique? As a member of the VCA Big Lake team, you will support the Technician and Doctor team by creating a positive, low-stress atmosphere for our clients and patients. The skills that will be utilized include, but are not limited to: Work in conjunction with all technical staff across the hospital to ensure hospitalized patients are receiving the best possible care and communicating frequently with the team. Responsibilities
- Preparing exam rooms for the doctors
- Assisting in providing education and support to the clients
- Restraining and assisting in patient exams and routine procedures.
- Taking detailed medical histories and patient vitals.
- Filling prescriptions (as allowed by law).
- Performing laboratory work and diagnostic imaging.
- Maintaining medical records.
- Work in conjunction with all technical staff across the hospital to ensure hospitalized patients are receiving the best possible care and communicating frequently with the team.
- Complete estimates, basic record keeping.
- Assisting our wonderful Doctor and Technician staff as needed.
- Maintaining a clean, safe hospital environment.
