About The Position

The Pet Doctor is a two-doctor general practice, small animal & some exotics veterinary hospital. We offer a wide range of services to provide the best care for our patients including Preventative Care, Urgent Care & Emergency Services, Digital Radiology, High Speed Dentistry, Ultrasound, Laser Therapy, In-House Laboratory and Dental Imaging. As pet owners ourselves, we know firsthand how important a pet is to their family! And with more than 30 years proudly serving the veterinary needs of pets and owners in our community, our client's pets are family to us as well. We are looking to add a passionate and motivate veterinary assistant to our dedicated medical care team! Our hours of operation are: Monday & Tuesday: 8am-8pm Wednesday & Thursday: 9am-7pm Friday: 8am-8pm Saturday: 9am - 4pm for boarding pickup We are closed on Sundays Whether you’re looking to just be a master of your role or trying to grow into that next career move, you’ll have opportunities through a variety of virtual and hands on, interactive training and continuing development.

Requirements

An experienced Veterinary Assistant with a minimum of 1-year experience preferred.
Compassionate and calm team player.
Ability to multi-task.
Strong communication skills.
Must be able to properly restrain pets.
Self-starter with the desire to continue to advance your knowledge and skillset.
Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises.
May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

Nice To Haves

Proficient in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests and radiographs, and anesthesia monitoring are a bonus!

Responsibilities

Pet restraint
Triage incoming patients
Collection and analysis of lab samples
Diagnostic imaging
Management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability
Administration of medications
Effective communication of treatment plans with clients
Surgical preparation and assistance
Anesthetic management
