About The Position

The Veterinary Assistant supports the veterinary care team in delivering high-quality preventive and medical care to pets while ensuring an efficient and positive client experience. This role is essential to maintaining patient flow, supporting clinical procedures, and upholding hospital standards.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required
Veterinary assistant experience or training preferred
Strong communication and client service skills
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Team-oriented with a proactive, positive attitude
Basic computer and math skills
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
Comfortable working with pets of all sizes, temperaments, and medical conditions
Exposure to a clinical environment, including noise, cleaning agents, and medical procedures
Flexible schedule, including weekends and evenings as needed

Responsibilities

Assist veterinarians and credentialed technicians during exams and treatments
Prepare patients, equipment, and exam rooms for appointments and procedures
Safely restrain pets and monitor patient comfort and safety
Support surgical and dental procedures as directed
Maintain accurate medical records and document client interactions
Educate clients on preventive care, services, and wellness plans
Ensure cleanliness and organization of exam rooms, treatment areas, and equipment
Assist with lab sample collection and processing (as permitted by state guidelines)
Contribute to a smooth, efficient workflow and positive team environment
