About The Position

As a Veterinary Internal Medicine Assistant at Animal medical center of Seattle, you will play a crucial role in supporting our veterinary neurologist in delivering specialized care to animals with neurological disorders. Your responsibilities will include assisting in examinations, handling and restraining animals during procedures, administering medications, and providing post-operative care.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of basic computer functions and the ability to learn new veterinary based software applications.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, stressful work environment.
  • Must be able to always maintain professionalism and composure.
  • Able to effectively communicate with co-workers, supervisors, clients, and the public in a professional manner.
  • Able to handle difficult clients.
  • Ability to speak, read and write the English language.
  • Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills are required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or GED.
  • Has at least two years of veterinary experience internal medicine or other specialty experience preferred).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in advanced diagnostic imaging (MRI, CT) is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with all aspects of patient exams including setting up equipment, obtaining patient histories, restraining animals, taking radiographs, providing take-home instructions, filling prescriptions, and scheduling follow-up appointments.
  • Interact with clients in person, over the phone, and via email to provide updates, gather information, and support the care process.
  • Ensure exam rooms are clean, organized, and ready for use. Record vital signs (TPR, weight, etc.) and enter accurate information into the medical record system.
  • Support daily patient care including cleaning cages, feeding, walking, and bathing. Monitor patients for cleanliness and comfort. Safely retrieve and return patients to and from their owners, ensuring IV catheters are removed and belongings are returned.
  • Assist with admitting patients into the hospital for diagnostics or procedures, ensuring proper identification and recordkeeping.
  • Help maintain a clean and organized hospital environment, including treatment areas, laundry, cages, and exam rooms.
  • Restock exam rooms and treatment areas regularly and assist with receiving and organizing deliveries.
  • Accurately document patient information, communication, and treatments in medical records.
