Rye Harrison Veterinary Hospital is hiring a full-time Veterinary Assistant to provide skilled care to our patients and exceptional service to our clients. Continuing education opportunities for our licensed technicians to grow and thrive in their careers Salary: $16.50-$21.00 per hour, based on the candidate's skills, experience, and qualifications. Schedule: This is a full-time position. Enjoy a 4-day work week on a rotating Week 1/Week 2 schedule! It would include working: Every other Saturday: 7:30 AM – 1:30 PM One 12-hour weekday shift: 7:30 AM – 8:00 PM Two to three weekday shifts: 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM On weeks you work Saturday, you’ll have two weekday shifts and one 12-hour weekday shift. On weeks without Saturday, you’ll have three weekday shifts and one 12-hour weekday shift.

Requirements

• Experience working with animals, particularly in a veterinary setting, is preferred but not required
• We’re open to candidates with little or no prior experience and will provide hands-on training for the right motivated candidate.
• Strong communication skills, reliability, and a team-oriented mindset
• Ability to handle animals safely and compassionately

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and vet techs during examinations, treatments, and surgeries.
• Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately
• Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas by cleaning and sterilizing equipment and surfaces
• Administer medications and vaccinations under the supervision of a veterinarian
• Feed, bathe, and exercise animals as needed
• Maintain accurate medical records
• Communicate with pet owners about their pets’ care, treatment plans, and follow-up visits
• Clean and maintain the clinic, including stocking supplies and ensuring a safe and sanitary environment
