About The Position

VCA Baring Boulevard Animal Hospital is hiring a full-time Veterinary Assistant Supervisor to join our team. As the face of VCA Baring Blvd, the Veterinary Assistant Supervisor sets the tone for the practice as we build and maintain each customer's trust and confidence in our abilities. The successful candidate will be a believer in the possibilities of high quality veterinary medicine and patient care—with the expertise and technical know-how to make them happen. In this position you will be supporting our Doctors by creating a positive, low-stress atmosphere for our clients and patients. The Veterinary Assistant Supervisor is responsible for leading and supporting the veterinary assistant team to ensure high-quality patient care, operational efficiency, and a positive client experience. This role combines hands-on clinical responsibilities with team leadership, training, scheduling support, and workflow coordination. The Veterinary Assistant Supervisor partners closely with the Practice Manager, Lead Technician, and Veterinarians to maintain hospital standards and foster a collaborative, high-performing team environment.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of veterinary assistant experience required
  • Strong animal handling and restraint skills
  • Knowledge of basic veterinary procedures and hospital operations
  • Excellent communication and conflict-resolution skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Flexible schedule, including some weekends or evenings as needed

  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, coach, and support veterinary assistants in daily clinical duties
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, and training of new assistants
  • Provide regular feedback, performance coaching, and skill development
  • Promote accountability, teamwork, and a positive workplace culture
  • Address performance or behavioral concerns in collaboration with hospital leadership
  • Provide hands-on patient care including restraint, treatments, sample collection, and monitoring as needed
  • Ensure proper animal handling and safety protocols are followed
  • Support surgical preparation, cleaning, and recovery processes
  • Maintain high standards of sanitation, infection control, and organization
  • Ensure accurate and timely medical record documentation
  • Support daily scheduling and team coverage to ensure efficient workflow
  • Monitor task completion and prioritize patient care needs
  • Assist with inventory management and supply organization
  • Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency and patient care quality
  • Act as point person for assistants during shifts
  • Model professional, compassionate communication with clients
  • Assist with client education and discharge instructions
  • Support resolution of client concerns in partnership with leadership
