About The Position

Preble Street is currently seeking an Assistant Director for the Veteran Housing Services Program. As a member of the Veterans Housing Services Management Team, the Veterans Housing Services Assistant Director ensures the provision of high-quality services in alignment with the agency mission through the supervision of the team, functional management of the program, leadership in program activities, and provision of direct services to clients. The Assistant Director also participates in program development and evaluation, resource and systems development, community relations and grants management in support of the Program Director and Senior Director. This position requires regular travel to all VHS offices, based on the needs of the program. This is a full-time (40 hours/week) position with a Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm schedule.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field, with 3–5 years of relevant nonprofit management and supervisory experience, or a comparable combination of education and significant, relevant experience.
  • Strong collaborative skills, with the ability to develop productive relationships with stakeholders, including but not limited to governmental and community partners.
  • Ability to identify challenges and employ a solutions-oriented approach to achieving program and/or organizational goals and outcomes.
  • Understanding of and positive regard for individuals experiencing homelessness and/or living in poverty.
  • Ability to analyze trends in the program, identify issues, and develop and recommend solutions.
  • Connection to and commitment to the mission, with the ability to promote staff engagement and team cohesion around the mission and values of Preble Street.
  • Please note that this is a full-time position with onsite work and participation in the on-call coverage rotation required.
  • Designated programs will include at least one 24-hour program.
